Map Operations Coordinator

The Map Operations Coordinator works as part of a team to help improve the customer experience when remotely renting an Extra Space storage unit through creating and maintaining digital maps of our properties. These maps are currently used to help customers find their units on property and will soon extend to assisting in online rentals. This individual will also aid in updating the layouts of our facilities.

Temporary Role Terms

This is a temporary position, 4 to 5 months in length.

Primary Responsibilities

Ingest map feedback from stores and clarify requests to ensure edits are made properly

Manage incoming workload to ensure the highest priority maps are edited first and management has visibility into progress and team bandwidth

Confirm with District Manager and Store Manager new building layouts and unit sizes and attributes

Serve as a go-between with our map partner and our stores

Work with various depts. within Extra Space to coordinate the creation of new maps in-advance of new storage facilities opening to the public to ensure maps are available from day one

Present to team supervisor on the progress of map edits and creation

Job Specifications

Revise existing Adobe Illustrator documents

Analyze, create and transform data in Excel

Collaborate remotely with internal resources spread throughout the country

Adhere to precise visual brand design guidelines

Revise and deploy updated storage facility map layouts several times daily

Education and Experience

Experience with Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop

Familiarity with building, interpreting and editing spreadsheets

Background in graphic design, web design, or illustration desired but not required

Experience in a customer-service oriented role desired

Strong communication skills

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience preferred

Working Conditions/Physical Demands

Performs sedentary work in an office environment with limited lifting (less than 10 pounds) or walking required. Close visual acuity required to perform work at computer terminal. No exposure to adverse environmental conditions. Requires repetitive typing motion, talking, hearing, grasping and feeling.
