Job Summary: Performs engineering technician work related to developing, evaluating, implementing, monitoring, and improving manufacturing processes in assigned areas. Successfully completes engineering related projects to support production operations. This includes production process improvements, cost reduction initiatives and work cell lean directives for increased output and product quality. Shift Schedule: 2nd - 3pm to 11:30pm - M-F Duties and Responsibilities • Hands-on manufacturing process implementation using lean manufacturing experience including value stream mapping, line balancing, kaizen, setup production, throughput measures, and 5S. • Strong troubleshooting, communication and time management skills to interface and operate on multiple levels and within cross-functional teams. • Assist manufacturing engineers with various production related projects. • Awareness and basic understanding of the APQP process (PPAP’s, FMEA’s, PFMEA’s, Gage R&R, SPC, Control Plans) relating to manufacturing. • Problem solving skills – (8D, 8-Step, 5 Whys) with systematic/practical approach to resolution of problems. • Thorough understanding of process documentation system. • Apply basic IE practices including time measurement, capacity planning, work sample studies, ergonomics and motion economy. • Assist in develop process flows, estimated cycle times, manpower requirements, equipment, utilities and floor space requirements, including proper development, training and transition of stable processes to production. • Interact with external and internal customers regarding current and proposed processes as required. • Interface with maintenance, electro-mechanical technicians and other manufacturing engineering resources to collaboratively resolve production issues. • Able to lead and complete projects in assigned work areas. • Create, document, develop and implement procedures used to manufacture, assemble and/or test Agility Fuel Solutions products in assigned work areas. • Learn about new technologies and manufacturing approaches. Able to propose improvements to Agility Fuel Solutions fabrication processes and systems. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities • Working knowledge of technologies and approaches to improve manufacturing operations. • Ability to communicate with vendors and support communications with customers to meet company goals. • Strong problem solving skills and ability to determine root causes. • Able to effectively implement machine, equipment and process changes to improve manufacturing operations and communicate the changes via documentation and operator training. • Ability to clearly communicate when coordinating projects with other departments. Credentials and Experience • Actively working toward a technical degree. Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, manufacturing, or industrial engineering preferred. • A minimum of 3 years in composites manufacturing is required. Other Skills/Abilities or Special Requirements • Willingness to obtain additional training in areas critical to the manufacturing engineering function. • Provide continuous process improvement via work instructions, tooling and equipment revisions and engineering process changes. • Ability to cooperate, communicate well with, and coordinate projects with vendors and internal customers/other departments. • Ability to simplify and solve complex problems along with determining root causes, both alone and within a team environment, with a high level of creativity. • Ability to work independently. • Ability to organize and implement projects. • Ability to communicate effectively using the English language, both written and verbal. • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and demanding environment with a strong sense of urgency and responsibility. Computer • Basic level knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, Visio, etc.) required. • Basic level knowledge of PC use and ability to use various software programs as required. Physical • Ability to operate various manufacturing equipment. • Ability to use various hand held measuring devices. • Ability to sit, stand and walk for up to 8 hours or more per day. • Ability to lift and carry up to 10 lbs on a limited basis.
