Responsibilities:
The Mechanical Engineering Summer Intern will have the opportunity to work in multiple engineering functions through a rotational program within the commercial gear engineering group. The commercial gear engineering group, contained within the Industrial Powertrain Solutions (IPS) division of Regal Rexnord, contains of the following engineering functions: enabling technologies, new product development (NPD), sustaining engineering, applications engineering, and Value Add – Value Engineering (VAVE). The Mechanical Engineering Intern will have assignments across any one or ideally several of these functions. The goal is to provide the intern with a variety of mechanical engineering experience across the commercial gear engineering group.
This position may support a broad range of engineering responsibilities including, but not limited to:
Development of new products or product line extensions (NPD) including gear drives and related components
Improving existing products through Value Add – Value Engineering (VA/VE)
Sustaining Engineering activities that include cost reduction projects and providing technical support to various groups throughout the Gear Division including Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing Engineering
Enabling Technologies projects to identify, research, and develop emerging technologies in ways that can be leveraged for current and future products
Depending on length of term, assignments across multiple functions will be established based on matching up the business needs with the student’s interests. This will provide the student with experience in different functions and how they interact with each other and the business.
Student will work closely with a mentor and the engineering team to not only support, but also take ownership of a variety of engineering functions that may include:
Analyzes new technologies and market assessments using existing basic analytical tools and methods to improve existing designs and expand existing product lines.
Accessory component design and/or conceptual layouts
Gear, bearing, fastener, key or other component calculations
Enable emerging technology and new product design validation through testing and data analysis
Produce and/or check engineering documents including drawings, technical manuals, catalogs, dimension sheets, and other engineering records

Travel may be required up to 10%.
Qualifications:
Must be enrolled as a full-time student in an accredited college or university studying towards a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering or related field.
Graduation date of December 2025 or later.
Student should be mechanically inclined and have an interest in mechanical design, development, testing and analysis (demonstrated mechanical aptitude/hands on experience a plus).
Demonstrated ability to analytically solve problems.
Self-starter with desire to learn, contribute to goals and objectives, and meet deadlines.
Good oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work with a cross functional team.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and organize work efficiently.
Demonstrated leadership experience in classroom and/or extracurricular activities is preferred.
The ideal candidate will have the drive to complete projects, yet not be afraid to ask questions to ensure quality work.
This is an entry-level position therefore previous engineering work experience is not required.
Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States without requiring company sponsorship to obtain or keep U.S. work authorization.
