Manufacturing Engineer provides technical expertise necessary to design all aspects of production, costs, quality, compliance to safety guidelines.  The incumbent is responsible for documenting and improving manufacturing processes, reviewing tooling, and creating and maintaining manufacturing standards. Conducts data analysis and management using Power BI and Power Apps, and oversees facility applications and manufacturing projects and holds regular reviews of the manufacturing book to ensure compliance and continuous improvement. 

Responsibilities 

Contributes to the development and implementation of specific manufacturing procedures and standards. 

Lead facility projects using 6 Sigma techniques to accomplish organizational goals; including analysis, procurement and installation  

Management of facility tool crib, procurement, assignment, and inspections 

Maintain facility layout, including seating in CAD layout 

Utilizes Powerbi and Power Apps to gather and analyze data for business decision to impact business results 

Interacting with manufacturing leaders and stakeholder departments to determine root cause of issues and ensure that corrective and preventive action are implemented. 

What you have: 

Degree Requirement 

Degree or equivalent experience desired 

Bachelors degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering preferred 

Quality Management: Knowledge of quality management methods, tools, and techniques and ability to create and support an environment that meets the quality goals of the organization. 

 Level Working Knowledge:  

• Utilizes quality indicators relevant to own unit or function. 

• Adheres to organizational quality management processes and practices. 

• Applies key aspects of continuous improvement processes and evaluates impact on quality. 

• Uses quality evaluation tools and techniques such as walkthroughs and inspections. 

• Works with quality assurance methods, tools and techniques. 

 

Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision. 

 Level Working Knowledge:  

• Accurately gauges the impact and cost of errors, omissions, and oversights. 

• Utilizes specific approaches and tools for checking and cross-checking outputs. 

• Processes limited amounts of detailed information with good accuracy. 

• Learns from mistakes and applies lessons learned. 

• Develops and uses checklists to ensure that information goes out error-free. 

 

Collaborating: Knowledge of collaborative techniques; ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.

Experience in Manufacturing environments to lead tooling purchases and installation 

 Level Working Knowledge:  

• Contributes to the development and implementation of specific manufacturing procedures. 

• Investigates the need to refer potential exceptions upward for review and approval. 

• Explains the rationale for procedures and standards in own area of responsibility. 

• Participates in the implementation of manufacturing standards and procedures to one's own function. 

• Provides feedback for improvement of procedures. 

 

Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Knowledge of the concepts, principles and techniques of root cause analysis (RCA); ability to use a structured approach to identify the causes of undesirable consequences in a manufacturing environment and the changes needed to prevent recurrences. 

 Level Working Knowledge:  

• Utilizes RCA techniques, such as Flowchart, Fish-bone Diagram, etc., to investigate basic problems, determine the causes, and find resolutions. 

• Locates factors that resulted in harmful outcomes of one or more past events. 

• Pinpoints behaviors, actions, inaction, or conditions that need to be changed. 

• Extrapolates lessons to be learned to promote the achievement of better consequences. 

• Practices RCA as an iterative process.

This position is currently a hybrid in-office work model, requiring a 3-day weekly office presence onsite at our (location) office and remote work for the remaining days. However, work arrangements may be adjusted at any time based on business needs.

Summary Pay Range:

$95,640.00 - $143,520.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
