Manufacturing Engineer

If you are looking for a position as a Manufacturing Engineer, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you!  Manufacturer of large custom-designed control valves, you will work in a dynamic and high-tech production facility based in our Marshalltown, Iowa location. 

 

In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

Design and Develop Advanced Tooling and Equipment: Use 3D CAD software to design sophisticated tooling, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and facility equipment. This includes analyzing functional requirements to create designs that ensure safe and efficient operation, meeting stringent performance and safety standards. Standardize and Document Manufacturing Best Practices: Develop comprehensive documentation of best practices, manufacturing workflows, and procedures to establish standardized, efficient production methods across the organization. Support CNC Programming and Tooling Selection: Provide expert mentorship to CNC programmers, advising on the selection of appropriate fixtures and tooling to ensure precision, reliability, and efficiency in production. Problem-Solving and Root Cause Analysis: Investigate and troubleshoot complex manufacturing issues using structured problem-solving methodologies. Identify root causes and implement corrective actions to improve production processes and eliminate recurring issues. Mentor and Develop Talent: Lead and mentor tool design co-op students, offering challenging, hands-on projects and training in company-specific procedures, CAD software, and industry-standard manufacturing practices, fostering the next generation of engineering talent. Collaborate on New Product Development: Partner with Product Engineers and cross-functional teams to optimize new product designs for manufacturability, ensuring flawless integration of design and production processes.

  For This Role, You Will Need: BS or BEng in a manufacturing related field  5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering in a related industry Strong understanding of manufacturing, machining processes, welding, and mechanical assembly Excellent problem-solving abilities, with experience in analyzing complex technical issues and creating effective solutions. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven track record to collaborate effectively with team members, vendors, and stakeholders Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., Solidworks, AutoCAD) Basic Statics and Strengths of Materials Knowledge
  Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart: Professional experience in a manufacturing environment preferred. Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). Knowledge and application of functional gauging and measuring instruments. Understands material properties and behavior, and stress-strain analysis to supplement FEA (Finite Element Analysis) via SolidWorks. Knowledge of manufacturing process capabilities. SolidWorks experience Familiarity with ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code
