Manufacturing Associate, Library Production

 We are looking for motivated, enthusiastic individuals to join our Twist Bioscience Operations Team in San Francisco. The Manufacturing Associate, Library Production will perform molecular biology workflows in a highly automated, high-throughput manner and will be responsible for the manufacture and analysis of a variety of custom molecular biology products across Twist Bioscience’s proprietary process workflow to meet the Twist production forecast and timelines.

The ideal candidate will be driven and will do what it takes to keep manufacturing on track in a fast-paced start-up environment.  The Manufacturing Associate will be responsible for the production of custom DNA based products and/or various intermediates according to established SOPs and complete manufacturing batch records to contribute to the daily production schedule. 

 Including but are not limited to:

Manufacture high quality custom molecular biology products in a high throughput MFG lab according to established SOPs. Operation of robotic laboratory equipment (Hamiltons and similar systems) and traditional lab equipment (bioanalyzers, centrifuges, sealers, thermocyclers, spectrometers, Next Gen Sequencing etc.) Good knowledge and use of traditional molecular biology processes and techniques Preparation of reagents and sub-assemblies for MFG processes Maintaining thorough, accurate and detailed documentation of all work produced in batch records, databases or other acceptable formats including problems and deviations Updating and writing work instructions and documentation Ability to work independently and in a safe manner Attention to details for process consistency Documentation, troubleshooting and addressing process deviations Packaging products Ability to work in an ISO, GMP, LEAN mfg environment and follow the lean manufacturing concepts Daily completion of assigned tasks to keep production on track

Key Skills/Qualifications

MA : 0-1 year of relevant lab experience and/or Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in biology, chemistry, biochemistry Familiarity with or prior experience in a manufacturing environment a plus Ability to follow work instructions and SOPs to complete Manufacturing goals MA II: 2 or more years of relevant lab experience and/or Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in biology, chemistry, biochemistry Familiarity with or prior experience in a manufacturing environment Intermediate knowledge of and experience performing molecular biology techniques and processes MA III: 4 or more years of relevant lab experience and/or Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in biology, chemistry, biochemistry Familiarity with or prior experience in a manufacturing environment Advanced knowledge of and experience performing molecular biology techniques and processes Ability to troubleshoot processes and escalate issues as appropriate Advanced knowledge of Confluence Ability to help create procedures or administrative controls and train operators

 Required for all Levels:

Good written and verbal skills Quick learner Good computer skills including experience with Excel and Word, Jira, Confluence web based or similar programs Team based laboratory environment Working in controlled laboratory environment Must be able to stand for long periods of time while performing duties. Must be able to work safely with chemicals and hazardous materials. Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs. Must be able to work outside of regular work hours/ work a flexible shift as needed.

The base cash compensation for this California-based role is below. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for bonus, equity, and a generous benefits package. Final compensation amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate skill, experience, expertise, and location and may vary from the amount listed above. Compensation may be different in other locations.San Francisco Bay Area Pay Range$5,200—$58,240 USD
