MDL produces a variety of premium ice cream products and toppings for food brands under Minor Food such as Swensen's, Dairy Queen and Burger King, as well as supplying the same quality ingredients to leading customers outside the group. MDL produces a wide range of cheeses and cheese blends including mozzarella, cheddar, string cheese, Parmesan, mascarpone, cream cheese and sour cream. MDL is not only a key supplier to various restaurant operations of its parent, Minor Food, but is also a major supplier to companies in the Thai and regional food services sector.

 

Job Description

Job Purpose :

Responsible for leading and managing sourcing strategy and on-going sourcing operations for Minor Dairy and all business units through successful strategic planning and execution by way of working with Sourcing team. The primary objective is to deliver sustainable supply model and sourcing operation that enable the business KPI achievement and its long-term growth objectives, through seamlessly integrated supply chain foundation from Brand, Planning, Sourcing, Suppliers, and Logistics. This requires an intense and broad range of knowledge of both local & international supply chain capabilities and the ability to structurally analyse and influence all business partners to meet corporate objectives on products, quality, and price and service levels.

Main Responsibilities

Work hand-in-hand with Strategic Sourcing team on leading the development of sourcing strategy and supply chain strategy for key strategic Food and Non-Food categories for both short to long term competitive advantages.

•   Work on deriving short-medium term sourcing strategies include identifying make/buy decision, fixed/float contract commercial strategy, period and frequency of sourcing decision, which enable competitive advantage to the business through cost optimization, supply sustainability, and supply flexibility. Any decision making would require structural business case justification.

•   Lead implementation with successful change management on strategic supply model and strategic supply chain solution through working in collaboration with both internal parties and external partners from Brand, Planning, Sourcing, Raw Material Suppliers, Processing Suppliers, to Logistics for both medium- and long-term supply sustainability.

 

•   Supervise and coach team on daily problem solving to ensure the root cause analysis and strategic solutioning have been thought through to prevent all interruption to the business, and all further issue repetition; including but not limited to

o   Sourcing, contract review, price negotiation, sale

o   Product launch

o   Supply fulfilment for both domestic and import

o   End-to-end supply chain execution from external to all customers

o   Product quality and safety

o   Changing demand from the business

o   Stock management; and write-off prevention

 

•   Supervise, explore and manage Supply Chain Operation Excellence. Work as the change driver for Supply Chain target.

•   Develop and propose the improvement and strategic advice to AVP Commercial. Deliverables focus in the area of supply operational risk mitigation, total cost of ownership optimization, supply chain responsiveness, and operational efficiency.

•   Lead, manage, and fulfil brand/ executive requirement, as well as deliver targeted COG and relevant supply chain KPI for all brands through supply chain strategies & initiatives.

•   Act as a project manager on managing the successful initiative implementation delivering the desired business outcome timely.

•   Work hand-in-hand with Supply Development team to develop long-term supplier development program in both local and global markets to ensure clear direction and plan on strengthening identified business partners relationship to best leverage the growth in entire eco system.

•   Lead supplier performance strategy through owning the supplier close-loop performance evaluation process. Conduct an effective supplier performance improvement policy with the suppliers. Encourage the transparent and collaborative working relationship through fact-base communication and structural stakeholder engagement.

•   Identify business needs on supply eco-system collaboration/integration, and subsequently spot opportunities from upstream to downstream value chain to enable the identified eco-system integration strategy. And, to drive its implementation with both internal and external business partners.

•   Deliver the cost saving and cost avoidance KPIs for the business units through the above capabilities. Follow-up on savings achievement and report variances monthly using available tools and channels.

•   Stay on top on global/ local demand supply and price outlook of relevant commodity / raw material cost components, and any risks which will enable a proactive strategic planning.

•   Always proactively spot opportunities for supply chain optimization across BUs (Minor Foods / Minor Hotels / Minor Factories / External Suppliers) including volume consolidation, global commercial agreement, global/regional supplier management, product / raw material specification standardization or optimization, supply chain process standardization. And manage its identified strategic supply chain initiatives.

•   Lead by example on hyper collaboration, key stakeholder management with cross functions at all levels to overcome any roadblocks for the team and ensure business common goal across the origination to always ensure the best outcome for the business.

•   Own the business data analysis, business case development, and executive summary preparation to support any Executive decision making required by AVP Commercial.

•   Develop and maintain good relationship with industries, trades and Government authorities for good understanding and create proper infrastructure to support Supply Chain Management & Commercial.

•   Responsible for people and talent development in the department. Lead by example on both hard and soft skill development. Soft skills include but not limited to Industry analysis, cost break down analysis, supplier SWOT analysis, strategic supply chain planning, and systematic problem solving, project management. Soft skills include but not limited to all competencies required in Minor Dairy Limited framework.

QualificationsProven expertise in Food and Non-Food strategic sourcing, and its manufacturing process from upstream (raw material) to downstream (processing)Strong in strategic thinking ability, with strong leadership, executive stakeholder management, hyper-collaboration skillsStrong systematic problem solving and project management in both operational and project base areas, using fact base data analysis, and un-structural data gathering.Experienced in product development projects from identifying raw material and finished goods specification to processing line setup/fine-tune to achieve optimum cost structure.Proven records in people developmentGood command of English and computer literacy

Education:

At least Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration/ Engineering/ Food Science / Food Technology or related fields.MBA is a plus.

Experience:

At least 8 years work experience in food service with solid knowledge and direct experience in sourcing, supply chain, other business operations in a dynamic environment.Must have solid experiences in strategic food sourcing in at least one of the following categories: seafood, meat, dairy/milk, bakery, flour, sauce, dressing, or non-food sourcing (packaging / hotel direct material)Must have solid experiences in managing sourcing operations and managing its daily and tactical operation issues.Must have proven record in large team management and people development.Must have proven record in executive stakeholder management of both internal and external business partners.Regional or global strategic food sourcing background will be an advantage.
