SUMMARY : This position exists to support Senior Director of Energy Finance in identifying, managing and implementing strategies across MTA to generate energy cost savings. The position focuses on data collection and analysis methodology, overseeing analyses and projects research, and modeling, focusing on modeling of the energy costs. Insights from these analyses and models will help optimize decision-making, resource allocation and improve efficiency and effectiveness through revised MTA energy management practices. Additionally, the role leads analytics for the interdepartmental workforce working on Bus Electrification energy supply and consisting of internal representatives from Buses, C&D and Finance, as well as external parties. This effort is estimated to generate about a billion dollars in savings for the MTA over the next 20 years. This position also leads the modeling and analysis for the Con Edison rate case and other Energy Finance projects. RESPONSIBILITIES : + Developing collegiate productive relationships with other employees within the department. Contributing and supporting a professional environment that respects individual differences and enables all employees to develop and contribute to their full potential. + Leading the Bus Electrification Power Plan analysis for interdepartmental workforce to assist the MTA in lowering its Electricity cost for Buses + Supporting deliberations and negotiations with NYPA during annual cost of service process, support management of NYPA Long Term Agreement, and application of surcharge processes + Supporting LIPA Traction Power and Real Estate agreements negotiations + Supporting tension/low tension differential modeling to support MTA’s participation in the ConEd /Public Service Commission Rate Making proceedings to advocate for MTA’s interests. + Supporting the Energy Finance Senior Director to drive consulting work towards valuable analyses and consolidating them to provide strategic decision-making recommendations in a timely manner + Other duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES + Must be capable of building a strong and successful network, developing new relationships and influencing decision makers. Must be willing to learn new skills and acquire new knowledge on a daily basis . + Excellent project management, analytical and problem-solving skills, together with demonstrated quantitative skills, proficiency in Excel modeling and attention to detail. + Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the talent to communicate complex quantitative concepts in a clear and succinct way to internal stakeholders. + Strong interpersonal skills with an established history of working on projects requiring group consensus and cooperation among people with no direct reporting relationships. + Excellent organizational and presentation skills. + Demonstrated ability to work in team and/or group settings, including gathering data from various stakeholders and interviewing stakeholders in a team or individual setting. + Demonstrated ability to work with all internal levels within a given organization. + Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact well with external agencies. + Demonstrated ability to work in a high profile, high pressure environment effectively. + Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with key internal and/or external stakeholders. + Demonstrated ability to complete short- and long-term projects effectively and as efficiently as possible. + Ability to prioritize among competing needs and opportunities and manage multiple projects at the same time, including mundane project management administrative tasks. + Demonstrated analytical capabilities and quantitative skills. + Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or comparable applications, i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE : Required: + Bachelor’s degree with outstanding academic achievement + Minimum of 4 years progressively responsible work experience. Some internship experience may be considered in combination with general experience. A Master’s Degree or experience in high level comprehensive Excel modeling may be used to substitute for up to 2 years of work experience. + Demonstrated leadership abilities Preferred: + Master’s degree in a related field. + Prior experience working in a large, multi-faceted, fast-paced organization or governmental body. + Familiarity with the MTA’s policies and procedures.
