Job DescriptionThe Data & AI Platform division is part of the technology organization. The division is responsible for providing revenue generating value added products and services to our clients and for internal use. The client access to these services is enabled through a set of Data API, BI and Analytics products, Custom applications, and Data Visualization delivered through Visa Marketplace Services.
Data Product Access Services team is looking for a Manager of Product Development for our external product delivery platforms. Our development teams are creating data-driven, web-based products and platforms that are used by our clients and users to gain insights and drive business growth.
The primary responsibilities of the Manager are to provide hands-on technical leadership, guidance and mentoring to the engineering teams and ensure the delivery of high-quality, robust, and scalable web applications. This person will be a technology leader, with experience in building solutions for business users, experience in managing versatile teams of engineers, and a track record of execution and delivery.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage the development and operationalization of large-scale external client facing web application with thousands of users, in an Agile development culture.
• Provide technical leadership and oversight to a team of software engineers (Full time employees and contractors)
• Apply creative thinking/approach to determine technical solutions that further business goals and align with corporate technology strategies, keeping in mind performance, reliability, scalability, usability, security, flexibility, and cost.
• Deliver the product with moderately complex technical interdependencies with cross geographical teams.
• Actively participate in Solution design, architecture and development of key initiatives. Ensure developed solutions adhere
to established architectural best patterns and target state.
• Foster the culture of Engineering Excellence (quality, security, performance, scalability, availability, resilience etc.) , CI/CD, Automation and Shift-Left.
• Hire, retain and grow a high-performing team of software engineers.
• Invest in the career development of direct reports.
• Create an engineering culture of creativity and innovation.
• Provide technical leadership to development team by participating in design, performing design reviews and code reviews.
• Provide technical leadership for quality assurance and test engineering activities – manual and automation
• Lead scrum ceremonies and program management activities. Play a crucial role in interfacing with business stakeholders to define solutions and requirements, prioritize, and drive execution using agile methodologies.
This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.
Qualifications• 6+ years of relevant work experience and a Bachelors degree, OR 8+ years of
relevant work experience
• 6+ years of experience in Web/Software/Data engineering leadership &
management roles with increasing responsibility.
• Strong expertise in architecture, design using UI framework like Angular,
React, J2EE, spring/spring boot, ORM solutions, Object-Oriented design,
Microservices, , API, RDBMS, Big Data Hadoop experience includes HBase,
SOLR, Messaging and processing using Kafka/Spark.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with Agile/Scrum experience.
• Have a successful track record of leading execution of large-scale projects
that represent broad strategic initiatives meeting quantifiable business
objectives and resulting in tangible impact for the organization.
• Strong at identifying problems, solving complex problems with simple
solutions.
• Outstanding verbal, written, presentation, facilitation, and interaction skills,
including ability to effectively communicate technical and non-technical
issues and concepts to multiple organization levels and executive
management.
• Should be a technical leader who inspires people first through his/her
technical know-how.
• Should have strong team management and personnel development skills
• Able to establish positive and effective team culture in a large organization,
influence culture and working arrangement with colleagues in US, Bangalore
locations.
