Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Software Engineering Department Manager (Manager Software Engineering 3), to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position is located in Redondo Beach, CA.
This Department Manager reports directly to the Air Dominance, Apex, R&AD and Common Products Software Center Engineering Director. You will be responsible for the software engineers across the entire program lifecycle. You will be responsible for Software Development in accordance with Sector Engineering procedures, plans staffing requirements and is the primary interface to the Software Directorate to ensure staffing needs are met. You will set operating objectives and provide mentorship to first line Section Managers based on Engineering goals, objectives, and company policy.

Basic Qualifications:
Must have a Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) field AND 9 years of related professional experience that includes a background in software development, OR a Master’s degree AND 7 years of related professional experience that includes a background in software development.9 years of software experience including Software Project Manager or Integrated Product Team Lead in Aerospace applications.Experience in Leadership and management of a large team.Experience in all phases of the Software Development lifecycles.Experience in planning staffing requirements.5 years of management experience such as Section Manager, Staffing Manager, Assistant DM.Knowledge, experience and familiarity with all phases of the software development life cycle.In depth understanding of NGAS Engineering processes.Active DoD Secret Clearance.Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top-Secret Clearance and Special Program Access.Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree AND 7 years of related professional experience that includes a background in software development.Understand NGAS Sector Engineering proceduresExperience as a Software Project Manager for teams greater than 50Experience as a certified Agile Software Development CoachFamiliarity with Northrop Grumman Software Development processes, CMMI Level 3 or higher, AS9100, or DO-178Experience in collaboration with other leads (SEIT, Avionics, Vehicle and Test) in a team-oriented environment to achieve program goalsGreen or Black Belt Lean / Six Sigma training and experiencesRelevant experience from the Defense and/or Aeronautics industryExcellent communication (written, oral, and presentation) and engagement skillsActive TS Clearance or Program AccessSalary Range: $187,000.00 - $280,600.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
