Manager Research Administration

Position Summary:  The Manager of Research Administration reports to the Director of Research Administration and provides the infrastructure of the Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG). Specifically, this position:

Responsibilities:

Directs Program support staff in the development, analysis, and preparation of reports for publication in the CCSG competing and non-competing renewals: Coaches and guides Program support staff to accumulate member statistics, member biosketches, and meeting minutes in support and in compliance with the CCSG. Trains Program support staff to collect and audit data contemporaneously to ease deadline burdens. Tracks monthly Programmatic activity to ensure compliance with CCSG guidelines and expectations: Documents opportunities for intra- and inter-programmatic collaborations in accordance with guidelines by tracking seminars, retreats, and Program meetings. Trains Program support staff on the documentation of Program meetings; may attend meetings and record meetings personally. Coordinates the External Advisory Board (EAB) visits including scheduling rooms, coordinating calendars, preparing agenda: Scouts out meeting space availability for annual EAB visit. Negotiates a favorable rate for meeting space, AV support, and food. Schedules EAB visits well in advance to coordinate the calendars of the President, Associate Center Directors, Program Leaders, EAB members, and administrative staff. Stays abreast of CCSG guideline revisions; implements changes and re- trains support staff and administrative staff to satisfy new regulatory requirements: Is knowledgeable with the guidelines for the CCSG; can cite requirements and regulations in ad hoc meetings. Notifies appropriate clinical, scientific, and administrative personnel of guideline changes. Coordinates all research personnel in constructing the annual non-competing CCSG application and the 5-year competing CCSG application: Organizes research personnel into meetings for strategizing and reviewing CCSG narratives. Assigns writing responsibilities to appropriate personnel. Has good insight into the inter-relationships of the research enterprise in order to spot opportunities for writing synergies. Prepares interim and final deadlines for review of the grant

Qualifications:

Required:

Graduation from an accredited college or university or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. At least two years prior experience in supervisory role. Solid oral and written communication skills.

Preferred:
