**Job Summary:**
Caterpillar Trimble Control Technologies (CTCT) is a joint venture between Caterpillar Inc. and Trimble Inc. This division develops positioning, control and automation products for earthmoving, excavation, paving, and building construction machines in the construction and mining industries, using technologies such as GNSS, inertial, optical total stations, lasers, and sonics. The products are used in a range of applications where the operator of the machine benefits from having accurate horizontal and vertical guidance control.
CTCT currently has a job opening for a Manager Proactive Quality Engineering for the CTCT Quality team, working in a dynamic global environment. This position will have direct accountability for design, development, implementation, and sustaining proactive quality within the CTCT organization. This role will provide direct managerial support for employees working in this area, as well as be a champion for the voice of customer and business that is realized from these critical value streams. The Manager Proactive Quality Engineering will help to set and drive the vision for this functional area in support of the CTCT Quality Management System. The position will also ensure the areas of accountability are working seamlessly together, as well as across other functional CTCT disciplines, to support the goals and desired outcomes of the CTCT business.
**What You Will Do:**
• Leader over Proactive Quality - Product development risk management process owner.
• Influence, evolve, and educate the broader CTCT organization and supply base partners, driving product/process development risk management excellence.
• Managing staffing, development, and performance management programs for the proactive quality engineering team.
• Providing specialized engineering technical support and consulting services to various areas of the organization.
• Managing high-impact, short and long duration engineering initiatives and projects; ensuring achievement of engineering plan and product quality.
• Maintaining product release plans and material plans; driving programs to completion on time and within budget.
**Education Requirement:**
• Requires a degree in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum.
**What Skills You Will Have:**
**Technical Excellence:**
• Strong history and level of experience in Hardware, Software, and System product development and product lifecycle management.
• Deep understanding and practical experience in proactive quality and assurance processes. Ex. APQP / PPAP, Requirements, FMEA, RCCA, FMEA, 8D, etc.
• Six Sigma methodology understanding and execution experience.
• Understanding and experience with manufacturing processes for mechanical and electrical components.
**Leadership:**
• Skilled in strategy development and execution.
• Ability to balance and optimize strategic vs tactical actions.
• Experienced in leading direct teams and influencing indirect teams.
• Strong change management and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively across a global organization.
• Business level proactive quality metric accountability.
**Critical Thinking, Decision Making:**
• Ability to assess product lifecycle-based trade off decision making and impact management.
• Courage to make challenging decisions in high pressure situations.
• Skilled in using and applying decision making tools/methods, 5 Why, Fishbone and Boundary Diagrams, Carry Over Analysis, etc.
**Influencing:**
• Leads and presents data driven collaborative assessments.
• Recognizes and adjusts communication based on audience and desired outcome.
• Rewards results, recognizes hard work, and addresses performance.
**Quality Risk Management:**
• Demonstrable skills in risk-based thinking and decision making.
• Ability to identify and drive mitigation across the four categories of risk - Viability, Feasibility, Usability, Value.
• Accountable for Proactive Quality within the CTCT Quality Management System
**Additional Information**
The location for this position is Mossville, IL.
Domestic relocation assistance is available for this position.
This position may require up to 25% travel.

**Summary Pay Range:**
$144,960.00 - $217,320.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
