Kettering Health Main Campus, formerly Kettering Medical Center, is the flagship hospital of Kettering Health and has been serving Kettering, Ohio and the Greater Dayton area since 1964. The facility includes the Benjamin and Marian Schuster Heart Hospital, maternity service with a level III neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), and level II Emergency Care. In 2020, KH Main Campus received an “A” from the Leapfrog Group, a national patient safety watchdog, ranking among the safest hospitals in the United States.Received 4 Star Baby-Friendly Hospital status by the Ohio Hospital Association.Awarded as one of the 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals by IBM Watson Health in 2020.Kettering received the Outstanding Patient Experience Award by Healthgrades (2017-2019).Accredited by the American College of Emergency Physicians as a Level 3 Geriatric Emergency Department.465-bed hospital (includes newborn beds) Department OverviewThis position is accountable for managing the provision of pharmaceutical care, staff, and work flow processes for the pharmacy departments at KHMB/ KHWT, Kettering Health Miamisburg, Washington Township and the respective acute care Pharmacy Services provided. A key role of this position is the managerial oversight to assure effective implementation of care and process changes that positively impact the pharmaceutical care provided to our patients. This role also includes, but is not limited to department communications; department human resource management; general operations workflow coordination; coordination of orientation, training and staff development; and policy and procedure development and implementation. The activities of this individual must facilitate the integration of systematic change that positively impacts the provision of pharmaceutical care, quality and customer services by the department in a fiscally sound manner.
Responsibilities & RequirementsJob Responsibilities
Participation by membership or as a chairperson in departmental and/or organizational committees that have operational impact on the pharmaceutical provision of care to patients.Demonstrate excellence in oral and written communication including a comprehensive understanding of the application of word processing and spreadsheet software. Ability to effectively communicate with customers and staff of varying cultures, ages & backgrounds.Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the department’s policies/procedures and key strategic initiatives.Supervise and evaluate work performance of employees within areas of responsibility.Provide the necessary skill sets to insure all aspects of drug preparation, distribution, and record keeping meet or exceed the legal and regulatory accreditation standards.Demonstrate knowledge of inventory management principles.Lead the ongoing review and improvement of pharmaceutical care assuring that best of class distinction is obtained within the parameters of available resources, applicable professional and technical standards, and regulatory agency expectations.Plan, develop and implement effective learning programs which maximize the skills and knowledge, of the professional and technical staff providing career enrichment and improving the pharmaceutical care to patients.Operate as department champion through the integration of new technology related to pharmacy automation. The application of unit-dose packaging, automation, aseptic and extemporaneous compounding in conjunction with USP standards will be an expectation of this position.This position will demonstrate up-to-date job knowledge and ability to adhere to departmental and organizational policies and procedures. In addition this position is responsible for the efficient use of hospital and departmental resources.Other duties as assigned.Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from an accredited institution or PharmD is required.Must be licensed or eligible for licensure to practice pharmacy in the State of Ohio. Preferred Qualifications Master’s Degree Preferred.At least 5 years of hospital experience preferred, with 3 years of supervisory or management experience preferred.
