OVERVIEW:

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Analytics:

Responsible for the development of store specific seasonal/quarterly category space plans in support of the company financial plans. Create ad-hoc analysis to react to current and future business trends and adjust as needed.

Coordinate with space and floor planning teams to ensure that merchandise and space plans are complete and accurate for new stores, remodels, and prototypes. Create Heat Maps and provide space recommendations for potential new stores and remodels.

Leverage data science tools to analyze performance metrics to ensure we are driving sales and improving store productivity while optimizing stores to athlete specific preferences. Must be able to identify business risks and opportunities, providing sound recommendations to proactively manage.

Take a lead role in the presentation of seasonal prototypes providing insight into what is working, what is not working, regional and seasonal opportunities for business, etc. Influence business partners by presenting sound analysis and impacts to the overall business, while maintaining key seasonal strike points, category visual presentation and preferred adjacencies.

Support the Director/ VP with leadership and organization of ad hoc projects. Proficient in quickly delivering accurate analysis, that is both actionable and presentable to senior levels of management.

Strategy and Process Development:

Manage each draw cycle from collection of initiative information to prototype approval through to store feedback, ensuring that the information delivered along the way is on time and accurate.

Understand the impact of space moves on fixturing and graphics through partnership with Retail Integration and In Store design teams.

Coordinate with the merchant and planning organizations understand and influence strategy and develop store specific and prototypical floorplans with consideration for brand image, optimized space, category adjacencies, item placement and athlete experience. Provide necessary information to partners to improve assortment decisions and inventory levels.

Collaborate with Category floor planners to provide fact-based recommendations on space reallocation to resolve conflicting requests between departments

Utilize knowledge of athlete needs/wants to implement system settings, processes, and procedures that maximize the experience of internal and external customers

Monitor store feedback mailbox and conduct root cause analysis on feedback to proactively reduce the quantity and type of questions and drive productivity improvements

Continual development of tools to provide the cutting edge reporting to service our internal clients to make better, more data-driven business decisions. Manage and enhance the system on a regular basis

Cross Functional Partnerships:

Develop and maintain effective working relationships with members of cross-functional teams (Buyers, Planning, Allocation, Marketing, Store Operations, Risk and LP) Collaborate with peers to ensure consistency of information, share best practices and develop knowledge. Participate in cross functional team projects to facilitate change and improvement with processes, systems, people, etc. to help the organization grow.

Manage the Visual Planning Calendar Process and Timeline. Activities include the creation of the annual calendar, ensuring the timeline accurately balances required merchandising activities with store workload budget.

Partner with business owners on resolutions when business conflicts exist

Participate in Regional and Store specific conference calls and meetings to identify store needs and opportunities.

Develop action plan to resolve these needs and capitalize on opportunities.

Build relationships with RVP, DMM, Stores and Field Visual Merchandisers in order to lead conversations regarding current performance, opportunities for improvements and positioning for future initiatives.

Supervising and Developing Talent:

Mentor, train, develop and manage day-to day activities of Space Management analysts and senior analysts. Encourage others to seek opportunities for different and innovative approaches to addressing problems and opportunities; facilitate the implementation and acceptance of change within the organization.

Be the subject matter expert on all systems and processes used within Space Management and share experiential knowledge with the members of the team. Participate in special projects, key initiatives, and system updates as requested by Director of Space Management.

Provide direct reports with timely and regular feedback to support associate development/ growth in role. Conduct mid-year and year end reviews for direct reports. Provide supporting documentation and input pertaining to talent calibration.

Drive talent selection process for open direct report positions. Establish strategic staffing and succession plans (0-2-year horizon) within span of control and gain Director support; successfully deliver on proposed staffing objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Marketing, Merchandising or Operations, Finance, Mathematics

5-7 years experience in retail space planning or store design preferred

Experience in retail merchandising, store management, buying or inventory management is required
