As a Manager, Design, you'll lead / coach a team of architects, designers, and / or engineers, and provide them with strategic design direction, technical expertise, and development opportunities. We are looking for: - experience related to the industry; experience leading people What is the work? - Manages the strategic direction for the use of Design and Construction Management Hardware and Software for the entire Design and Engineering Department, including working with internal departments on software licenses, new hardware purchases, and the rollout of these new tools. - Sets the vision and manages the implementation of the BIM Execution plan, updates it annually to address HEB’s evolving business needs, and identifies new requirements that will impact AEC contracts currently in place - Manages all BIM/digital design logistics (e.g., contracts, emails, file sharing, permissions), with regards to BIM 360 and all future platforms - Resolves conflicts, both real and potential, between multiple HEB/Architectural/Engineering/Contractor/Subcontractor Models to ensure data retention and long-term efficacy of the model - Identifies the 2-5 year strategic needs, works with the Director of Architecture to set the strategic direction, develops implementation plans to achieve those goals, and reports on progress against those goals. - Collaborates with other department managers to identify, explore, create the business case for, and implement new technologies, such as the use of AI, BIM 360 model sharing, Drones, VR, and Construction Management Tools. - Manages the technology team partners, software, and programs, such as Clash Detection, Scan to BIM, REVIT Training, 3-D Visualization, and BIM Execution Plan - Negotiates and manages all contracts for external technology consultants that assist with Revit family creation, clash detection, Scan to BIM, and other non-project specific programs Leadership: - Leads / coaches a team of architects, designers, and / or engineers; provides strategic design direction, technical expertise, and development opportunities for direct reports - Manages internal and external resources to align efforts that deliver company, pyramid, and department strategies and key initiatives - Oversees team workload to ensure on-time delivery of assigned tasks and projects - Provides regular feedback on individual and team performance - Oversees format development and formulation of program information to create design solutions that enhance H-E-B's customer experience - Creates and actively promotes an inclusive, One Team culture - Effectively builds cross-functional partnerships with other teams; ensures timely communication of key information to business partners - Researches, tests, and rolls-out innovations that lower H-E-B's total cost of ownership for our facilities - Supports development / execution of H-E-B's specifications and design criteria guidelines - Reviews construction documents for coordination, completeness, and correctness - Reviews work of external consultants; ensures performance meets H-E-B expectations - Works with cross-functional teams to establish / maintain H-E-B sustainability standards - Communicates with multiple entities (e.g., developers, city governments, architectural review boards) regarding H-E-B design requirements, regulations, and code compliance - Provides technical assistance to internal and external teams What is your background? - A related degree or comparable formal training, certification, or work experience - 8+ years of experience - 5+ years of management experience Do you have what it takes to be a fit as an H-E-B Manager, Design? - Knowledge of cost analysis and impact on business models - Understanding of building systems, appropriate materials use, construction methods, building codes / standards, environmental regulations, sanitation, and public safety - Strong written / verbal communication and presentation skills - Strong analytical skills - Strong project management and resource planning skills - Ability to direct / lead a team - Ability to work complex issues with senior management Can you... - Function in a fast-paced, retail, office environment - Travel by car or plane with overnight stays 07-2018
