Manager Mechanical Services
This position will plan, organize, prioritize and coordinate activities of workers involved in the installation, repair, and maintenance of building and campus utility systems such as HVAC, steam generating, water supply and related piping systems, electrical distribution systems, fire alarm systems, and computerized energy management systems. This department is staffed and operates continuously around the clock. The Supervisor must be available to provide direction and assistance as necessary.

Salary: $62,000 Annually

Qualifications:Formal Education:Associate degree in HVAC or equivalent education and experienceExperience:​​​​​​​3-5 years supervisory experience preferredAdditional Knowledge/Skills:Must have good interpersonal, communication, organizational, and analytical skillsMust have a working knowledge of the principles, methods, materials, tools, equipment, and code regulations used in the plumbing/heating/electrical tradesMust be able to read electrical and mechanical blueprintsEssential Functions:With or without reasonable accommodations the incumbent must be able to read and write and speak the English language at a college levelBe capable of performing sometimes complex mathematical calculations, statistical calculations and other higher mathematical operationsMust be able to communicate with all levels of the institution in written and spoken formThe individual must be able to work independentlyThe ability to maintain regular and prompt attendance is essential to the successful performance of this positionOther essential functions may be requiredResponsibilities:Supervise support staff trades people including hiring, evaluating, providing work direction, training, and discipliningSupervise and participate in the installation, maintenance, repair, and operation of all campus utility systemPurchase equipment and supplies and maintain inventory necessary to the operation of the departmentMonitor and control departmental budgetsInstall, operate and troubleshoot campus-wide energy management systemsMaintains a safe working environment within and around their facilities and associated equipment and supplies including, but not limited to, obtaining Safety Data Sheet (SDS) information pertaining to any hazards associated with their work environmentSafety: Participate in safety training and comply with safety rules, regulations, and protocolsPerform additional duties and assist with special projects as assignedPhysical Environment:
Personal Protective Equipment must be worn when required. A respiratory function test and the ability to use respirators may be required. Stairs and uneven surfaces may be present; Artificial lifts, etc. may or may not be available. The position may require the incumbent to walk outdoors in all types of weather to other buildings or offices located on the campus. The Campus is located in an area that contains numerous hills and slopes and may not always be fully accessible for mobility impaired individuals.
