Manager Master Data

Summary Description:

This role is focused on the governance of SAP master data, execution of the master data function in support of business strategies, and the ongoing pursuit of improving processes to achieve greater efficiency and data quality. The function drives conformance to best practices through in depth understanding of SAP master data domains, and a high degree of focus on data governance. This role is within our North American Master Data team and reports to the Director of Master Data Management.  Key areas of focus for this role are center around ensuring strict and consistent governance of master data, development of solutions that improve the creation, maintenance and governance of master data, and ensuring that Refresco’s master data management supports the execution of business strategies such as Buy and Build and other prioritized business projects. 

Essential Functions:

Lead the work activities and has full management responsibility for the performance and development of a team of Master Data Analysts. Participate in development and maintenance of the elements that make up a strong data governance program, such as policies, SOPs, data dictionaries, and master data controls. Provide transparent reporting and suggested action(s) to leaders whose teams provide input data for master data, to reduce data quality issues, non-value record maintenance, and process non-conformance.  Identify solutions which improve data architecture, data quality, processes to maintain data, and business processes which produce master data and participate in the implementation of such solutions. Promote and take action to further SAP as the single version of the truth for master data. Develop understanding of Refresco’s data domains and their integration points.  Ensure SOX and process controls are adhered to by all team members through active monitoring and review of team’s work. Conduct root cause analysis for data quality issues through engagement of technical and business teams to identify, sequence, and implement solutions which prevent recurrence. Establish, monitor, and assess master data policies and practices. Assist with the development and support execution of the MDM strategy. Support development of a process to audit / measure the efficiency and quality of the MDM maintenance process. Identify and manage data cleanup projects to improve data accuracy.

Leadership Responsibilities:

Leads and directs the work of other employees and has responsibility for personnel actions including hiring, performance management, and termination.   Provides training, direction and instruction and conducts performance evaluations.  Provides guidance and training on work standards and expected outcomes.  Accountable for planning and evaluating performance, staff training and development, recruitment and may contribute to pay recommendations.

Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills (MS Visio, MS PowerPoint). Strong business aptitude, problem solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to exercise mature judgment. Experience participating in technology implementation projects. Strong analytical abilities with experience extracting data and developing reports in an ERP environment.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree (or significant relevant work experience) and 5 years of relevant professional experience. Experience working on a MDM team across multiple data domains (highly preferred). Exposure to the business functions of a manufacturing enterprise from a finance, supply chain, or business analysis perspective. Experience maintaining multiple SAP data domain masters (highly preferred). Strong understanding of how data is used for reporting and transactional activities. Project management experience leading cross-functional projects. Experience as a technical business user of FI, CO, SD, MM, PP, QM, or WM modules of SAP (highly preferred). Experience with defining, writing and implementing business processes and data standards in one or more of the following data domains: material, customer, asset, production or vendor. Bachelors or Masters in Accounting, Decision Sciences, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Financial Enterprise Systems, or similar field of study. Knowledge of different types of Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence solutions. Demonstrated ability to quickly understand complex technical matters as well as the ability to convey to stakeholders. Certification preferred include CPA, Six Sigma, PMP, or similar.

Working Conditions:

Physical Demands– Continuously sitting for prolonged periods, as the job is administrative in nature. Visual/Sensory – This position requires attention to detail, requiring attention with one or two senses at a time. Work environment – Work and environment fasted paced, requiring ability to remain focused under pressure. Mental Stress – There is pronounced pressure from deadlines, project management, accuracy or similar demands.

Travel Requirements:

Based in Tampa corporate office with minimal travel requirements.
