Masters degree preferred. Six years of experience in a related field. Experience in relevant project management, marketing planning, interpersonal and external communications, media relations, social media, creative content, and supervision of creative teams. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered. Nature & Purpose of Position Performs advanced managerial work administering SHSU’s marketing communications for the College of Criminal Justice (COCJ) and Institutes. Primary Responsibilities Leads the public presence of the COCJ through visual, written, and oral communications, marketing, and branding efforts. Collaborates with Marketing and Communications team members, COCJ leadership, Institute leadership, and other areas on campus to enhance the COCJ Institute visibility through paid, earned, and owned media channels. Serves as primary marketing liaison between the COCJ and Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC) for external marketing/communications compliance (e.g., branding, creative content, standards). Provides direct project management support to develop marketing plans for the College and approve all external communications/marketing projects. Writes featured (high impact) articles, media relation communications, digital ads, and recruiting ads for national/regional conferences. Supervises COCJ marketing staff as assigned. Collaborates with IMC on website content and quality control protocols for the College. Ensures brand messaging is consistent across university communications and effectively tailored for relevant audiences. Performs other related duties as assigned. Other Specifications Experience with marketing planning, creative development, brand management, advertising, digital/social media marketing, website, graphic design, print production, media relations, public relations, event management, and lead generation is necessary. Project leadership and management, working with external/internal cross functional teams. Excellent written and verbal communication capabilities. Working knowledge of AP style guidelines. Relationship building, motivational and team skills. Ability to utilize electronic media in communication efforts. Must be proficient in interpersonal and external speaking and written communication skills. Must be effective in computer and related technology skills. Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws. Ability to manage business functions. Communicates with other university departments, personnel, and other agencies.
