Position Title:Manager Facilities Maintenance Job Group:Professional & Scientific Required Minimum Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent and 5 years of related experience Preferred Qualifications:Experience assigning and prioritizing work orders Budget and financial allocation experience At least 2 years of supervisory experience with construction/maintenance staff Project management experience Knowledge of building maintenance – mechanical, electrical, or HVAC Job Description: Summary Facilities Planning and Management seeks a dynamic, experienced leader to provide leadership and direction for a Building Maintenance Service Team. Under General supervision, the Manager Facilities Maintenance leads the daily operations of facilities and personnel. Success in this role requires a strategic approach to assigning and prioritizing work, scheduling staff, and establishing quality standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong leadership track record, thrive in a team environment, execute with minimal supervision, and have excellent communication and customer service skills. As a Manager Facilities Maintenance, you will provide daily sequence of man-hours, materials, equipment, projects, and schedule commitments. This position analyzes organizational operation and makes changes as needed to maintenance service delivery. In this role, you will monitor daily time entry, workflow, and material acquisition. You will coordinate staff participation and be involved in the after-hours callback process. This position assists a senior manager with the building maintenance budget and assumes the responsibilities of the senior manager in their absence. Example of Duties • Provides leadership in the development and maintenance of a safe and secure environment for students and staff. • Establishes, updates and reviews policies and procedures used by the department in order to assure compliance with university policies and State and Federal laws. • Provides technical service to solve complex maintenance problems. • Conducts surveys and solicits feedback from the university community. • Serves as a resource person and/or recommends solutions to specific problems for students, administrators, and university offices or departments. • Markets building maintenance department services and acts as a liaison for the department with various units, committees or task forces. • Evaluates the effectiveness of specific functional operations, recommends organizational changes and determines equipment needs in order to achieve departmental goals. • Participates in short and long-term strategic planning. • Researches, facilitates and develops the trainings and orientations for new staff. Level Guidelines• Aware of key annual objectives of department or work unit• Understands linkage between daily activities and achievement of annual objectives of department/work unit and explains to direct reports• Focus on ISU’s mission and meeting department or work unit goals• Supervises a small department or work team• Often is a working supervisor with direct, previous experience performing work of those supervised• Has full management responsibility for direct reports, specifically the authority to hire, fire, and counsel; may share part of responsibility with higher level management• Requests approval for financial actions beyond a limited scope per policy Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an on-going basis without sponsorship.
