Manager - Facilities Design & Construction

Overview This position is responsible for providing the leadership of the Facilities Management Design/Support and Construction/Project Management teams to deliver efficient and effective facilities services to our clients, utilizing the financial and human resources devoted to them in accordance with Facilities management's strategic direction. Responsibilities + Directs the activities of Facilities Management's in-house designers and technical staff in the engineering and design of modifications, new construction and operations support for PPL's 2.8 million square feet of office buildings and service centers. + Coordinates the acquisitions and utilization of contracted architectural and engineering design services to support Facilities Management's design work. + Develops and implements plans, procedures and processes for corporate space planning; standard specifications for construction and O&M work; design and documentation standards; environmental compliance; safety and health in facilities environments; energy efficiency for buildings; assuring building code compliance; and facilities space utilization. + Coordinates the maintenance and utilization of Facilities Management's specific information system’s needs, such as AutoCAD and Building Information Modeling systems. + Directs the activities of Facilities Management's project managers and other staff involved with the implementation of the department's capital construction program for buildings. + Coordinates the acquisition and utilization of services for construction management, general constructions, and specific construction trade contractors. + Manages the preparation and updating of Facilities Management's construction program for buildings for both capital and O&M work. + Provides technical advice and guidance to senior department management and corporate management on issues related to corporate building assets. + Manages costs to operate the design/services function within its designated portion of the annual expense budget of approximately $34 million. + Manages costs for capital additions to corporate buildings within annual capital budgets of approximately $17 million. + In-person supervision of employees to ensure compliance with FLSA wage and hour issues as well as to monitor compliance with safety rules. + All positions in which driving is an essential function of the job, regardless if the job code is marked safety sensitive or not, will also be included as safety sensitive. + May be assigned an Electric Utilities emergency and storm role. This is a special assignment that comes into play during storms and other emergencies when the company needs to restore power or respond to other issues affecting customer service. This role may necessitate the need to work after-hours, outside of your normal schedule. + The company reserves the right to determine if this position will be assigned to work on-site, remotely, or a combination of both. Assigned work location may change.
