Manager - Environmental Health and Safety
Overview The Environmental Safety Manager provides leadership and oversight for the identification, evaluation and control of occupational and environmental stressors at D-H Lebanon. Responsibilities * Identifies, monitors, and investigates environmental, health and safety concerns and incidents. * Provides oversight of the employee safety, industrial hygiene, hazardous materials, hazardous waste and regulatory compliance programs. * Coordinates and collaborates with other services and departments that have responsibilities that affect environmental safety and employee health. * Designs and maintains communication mechanisms intended to keep staff and others informed about environmental safety risks, concerns, and solutions. Works with other departments to implement these mechanisms. Works with news media to keep them informed concerning safety related issues. * Develops orientation and ongoing departmental training programs pertaining to environmental, health and safety. Provides or monitors employee-training sessions. Monitors documentation of mandatory training. Verifies employee knowledge levels and effectiveness of training programs. Provides or coordinates "train the trainer" courses. Coordinates and monitors for compliance with policies, regulations, and licensing requirements. * Communicates regulatory changes and develops action plans for compliance. Maintains/monitors all documents required for compliance ready for immediate inspection by regulatory agencies. Responds to OSHA, TJC, and other inquiries. * Actively participates in all incident command activations. * Works with DHMC Engineering and contractors to ensure adequacy of the safety programs and procedures. Monitors compliance with interim life safety and other construction safety requirements. * Oversees the work of assigned staff within the department. Conducts employee performance appraisals. * Performs other duties as required or assigned. Qualifications * Bachelor's degree required, a degree in safety, industrial hygiene, engineering, environmental science or similar. Master’s degree preferred * Five (5) years of experience in environmental, health and safety required. Healthcare experience preferred. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Experience working with Microsoft office products. * Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Hazardous Material Manager (CHMM) preferred Required Licensure/Certifications - None * Area of Interest:Professional/Management * FTE/Hours per pay period:1.00 - 1.00 - 40 hrs/week * Shift:Day * Job ID:29888 Dartmouth Health is an Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity Employer.
