As an airline, safety is our most important principle. And our Corporate Safety team is responsible for making sure safety is top of mind in every action we take. From conducting flight safety investigations and educating pilots on potential safety threats to implementing medical programs and helping prevent employee injuries, our team is instrumental in running a safe and successful airline for our customers and employees.
Key Responsibilities:The Manager - Emergency Response Corporate Planning position provides program leadership, support, and organizational change for the Emergency Response programs enterprise-wide. The position analyzes plans to improve readiness and provides vital tools and resources to support planning and implementing programs through consistent application of policies, processes, and best practices. The position establishes and maintains critical relationships across all divisions at United Airlines and with key government agencies. This is a Chicago-based hybrid position, requiring two-three days in office per week.
Provides project management and oversight for critical Emergency Response tool development and implementationCommunicates policy and procedure changes through appropriate methods (bulletins, updates, newsletters, etc.)Conducts regular reviews and audits of Emergency Response programs (Emergency Operations Center / Telephone Enquiry Centre / Special Assistance Team) and records; works with respective managers to update programs as appropriateAnalyze emergency processes and identify, develop, and implement process improvementsMaintains and updates the Emergency Response web page and Microsoft SharePoint siteQualificationsWhat’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications): Bachelor's degree or 4 years of relevant work experience5+ years managing multiple large, complex projects across multiple functionsExperience presenting, escalating, and providing solutions to senior leadershipDemonstrated experience delivering measurable business benefits through project executionDemonstrated proficiency in facilitating, delegating and motivating cross-functional groups or activitiesReliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the positionOn call 24/7 as required for emergenciesAbility to travel on call as required for emergenciesMicrosoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and Project) proficiencyAbility to travel up to 10%
What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):4+ years airline business and operations experience – with focus on safety, business continuity, or emergency responseKnowledge of the 1996 Transportation Disaster Act and its requirementsProject Management Professional Certification or Lean Six Sigma certificationExperience with process/system mapping and analysisAbility to manage business and technical resources with a coordinated project planExposure with organizational change/facilitation, enterprise communication and trainingDemonstrated successful project delivery using fundamentals of PMBOK practices/methodologiesUnderstanding of key project management functions like critical path, total float, and EVM metrics
The base pay range for this role is $99,750.00 to $135,960.00.
The base salary range/hourly rate listed is dependent on job-related, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, education, and skills. This position is also eligible for bonus and/or long-term incentive compensation awards.
