We have an exciting position for a Manager Commercial NC Hub who will lead the Commercial function team to support site leadership in optimising the commercial value of the site operations in the most safe, effective, and efficient way.

This role will report directly into the Senior General Manager (NC Hub) and will form part of the Northern Cape Regional Leadership Team

We produce high-grade iron ore, the key component in steel widely used in construction and manufacturing across the world. Our activities include all aspects – exploration; mining; processing and blending; shipping; marketing and selling. In South Africa, we have mining operations in the Northern Cape province, as well as a head office in Gauteng, and a port operation in Saldanha Bay, Western Cape.

Job Description

As a Manager Commercial NC Hub you will provide services as required and your responsibilities will include but not limited to:

Provide commercial information to develop the Life of Asset and Resource Development Plan.Break down Group Finance/commercial requirements and performance targets to the site level, translate them into site-specific targets and budgets, and communicate them to on-site teams.Facilitate the budgeting process for own area of accountability and consolidate inputs (including finance inputs) to draft a 5-year plan and 1-year budget.Drive departmental performance as per the 5-year plan, track delivery against the plan, challenge outcomes, and hold people to account.Conduct performance management and improvement by consolidating and communicating commercial reporting insights across disciplines.Provide advice and decision-making support to the site leadership team, ensuring a commercial lens to all strategic decisions.Facilitate departmental risk management, consolidate, and manage risk/opportunity register across own discipline to ensure risks are flagged, captured, adequately addressed, and followed up.Function as an on-site interface to IM, Supply Chain and Legal for contract management and budgeting/financial resourcing implications.Proactively identify commercial-specific challenges and opportunities that new technology could address.Identify new technologies for the on-site Commercial work once the solution design is executed.Establish a purpose-led, high-performing culture of excellence that cultivates inclusivity and diversity and creates a highly skilled and experienced mining professional team that enables mine and business performance.Take a proactive approach to guarantee compatibility between external and internal requirements, establish appropriate governance protocols, delegate accountabilities, conduct thorough investigations into incidents, and continually monitor rehabilitation activities within the specific discipline.

QualificationsGrade 12Postgraduate/Tertiary qualifications in Business Accounting, Finance, EconomicsSA Drivers LicenceMBA/Master’s in finance or commerce will be advantageous

Experience

Understand commercial/business drivers, best practices, and how they impact business performance.Awareness of new technologies and their impact on commercial activities.Familiarity with business improvement tools and techniques.Knowledge of financial metrics, cost management, and budgeting tools.Leadership tools for creating a high-performance culture.Data management and analysis for decision-making.Knowledge of safety, health, environment, and regulatory requirements.
