The Manager, Software Development Engineering leads a team of technical experts in successfully executing technology projects and solutions that align with the strategy and have broad business impact. The Manager, Software Development Engineering will work closely with development teams to identify and understand key features and their underlying functionality while also partnering closely with Product Management and UX Design. They may exercise influence and govern overall end-to-end software development life cycle related activities including management of support and maintenance releases, minor functional releases, and major projects. The Manager, Software Development Engineering will lead & provide technical guidance for process improvement programs while leveraging engineering best practices. In this people leadership role, Managers will recruit, train, motivate, coach, grow and develop Software Development Engineer team members at a variety of levels through their technical expertise and providing continuous feedback to ensure employee expectations, customer needs and product demands are met.
About the role
As Manager - Cloud Networking Services, Platform Engineering, you will report to the Director of Service Engineering and will:
Collaborate with Network Architecture to collectively define and own the vision for the capabilities/services, aligning to company strategy and evangelizing throughout Thomson Reuters
Partner with other leaders within Platform Engineering to craft solutions and patterns for our Cloud Networking Services that can be leveraged across Product Segments
Develop, refine solutions and services for Cloud Networking services focusing on DNS, firewall infrastructure, WAF solution and CDN's etc.
Monitor and optimize cloud infrastructure performance, including capacity planning, resource allocation, and cost management
Drive cohesion, standards, and best practices across platform services and capabilities in collaborations with application teams, security, compliance, and external vendors
Build a strong culture of engineering excellence and industry best practices
Coach, develop, and lead a diverse global team
Cloud Network Services (AWS, Azure, GCP, OCI)
About You
You are a fit for the role of Manager - Cloud Networking Services, Platform Engineering if you possess the following skills and experiences:
Minimum of 10 years of experience in cloud networking, with at least 4 years in a management or leadership role.
Strong knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, GCP or OCI.
Proficiency in networking concepts and technologies, including Routing, VPC, VPN, DNS, Load Balancers, and Firewalls.
Continuous delivery and Infrastructure automation tools such as Git, CloudFormation, Terraform
Strong understanding of firewall technology like Checkpoint/Palo Alto
PaaS (Platform as a Service) or IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) solutions
Direct line management responsibilities for global teams, delivering performance reviews, and defining annual goals/metrics
A management style that is collaborative, energetic, and results oriented
Work with others to develop joint solutions and break down internal barriers.
Take ownership, acting with accountability and urgency
Speak up, share ideas and encourage others to do the same Working knowledge of programming and scripting languages: Python, Ruby, Perl, Bash, JavaScript or similar languages,
Professional certifications such as CCNP Cloud, AWS Certified Advanced Networking, or equivalent preferred.
Experience with infrastructure automation, infrastructure as code, application networking/routing
