The Software Defined Vehicle will increase the vehicle’s compute capability, be connected, and allow for faster software development cycles. As Manager of Virtual Controller Simulation, you will lead a team on the forefront of realistic automotive software-in-the-loop simulation environments ensuring highly optimized, largely automated, high-fidelity vehicles on demand that can be deployed by the team and are capable of running thousands of simultaneous scenarios on cloud compute.

The simulations support algorithm development of hands-free driving in all situations, active safety features, in-vehicle Infotainment, and embedded control among others. The primary focus of the team you will lead is to design and implement a build pipeline for software-in-the-loop high-fidelity virtual controllers, bus communication, hardware and peripheral drivers for multiple vehicle configurations that can be run at scale on cloud compute. You will be working cross-collaboratively with many teams to integrate these systems into a wider CI/CD toolchain and data analytics pipeline.

Key Responsibilities

Drive strategy and implementation of large projects to design, implement, deploy, and maintain virtual controllers of both compute and embedded architectures for software-in-the-loop simulation including all aspects of abstraction of software from hardware, hardware and peripheral drivers, optimization, performance, scheduling, and determinism within a virtual environment for different levels of fidelity.Translate strategies into clear direction for the team. Reprioritizing and reallocating resources as appropriate based on changing business needs. Offer direction to subordinates in accordance with established company policies.Develop plans for people resources and ensures that team members are continuing to grow their skills and competencies. Have continued career discussions with your team and know where to allocate resources based on unique strengths of everyone on the team.Guide direct reports on scoping out complex problems and develop creative and innovative solutions to the issues. Drive change and develop new policies and processes in support of functional and company strategies.Set objectives and own the delivery of metrics and Key Performance Indicators that have a direct impact on the achievement of the results of the Simulation Operations & Infrastructure team.Enforce company policies that directly impact subordinate employees.

Requirements

Bachelor, Master or PhD degree in Computer Science, or an Engineering degree in Software, Computer, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or equivalent10+ years of relevant working experience with C++3+ years of leadership experienceExperience with modelling in a physics-based simulation environment, preferably automotiveExperience working on large volumes of data in a real-time, or faster than real-time, discrete environmentKnowledge of digital signal processing, timing, scheduling, and multi-threaded programmingSoftware and/or test automation development experience in a Continuous Integration, Continuous Deployment and Continuous Testing environmentExperience working with Scrum/Agile software development process and toolsExperience in Python, Docker, and Kubernetes. Certification in Kubernetes Administration an assetExperience with object-oriented programming, modern design patterns and writing scalable reusable codeExtensive experience with the full software development lifecycle (software requirements, design, coding, verification, support)Familiarity with Cameras, LiDARs, Radars as well as perception, classification and fusion algorithms an assetStrong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively cross functionallyStrong team management and people development skill

Compensation: The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The compensation may not be representative for positions located outside of New York, Colorado, California, or Washington

Compensation: The expected base compensation for this role is: $165,000 - $253,200 . Actual base compensation within the identified range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.Benefits: GM offers a variety of health and wellbeing benefit programs.
