Are you a smart, driven, curious and collaborative quantitative or financial analyst? Leverage your deep, technical credit risk knowledge to deliver lasting value in this challenging Group Risk role. You will be exposed to all aspects of credit risk across the Group, and you will provide assurance to the board and executives about the group’s credit risk performance within risk appetite, through comprehensive reports that demonstrate adequacy of impairments, credit performance in comparison to peers and assessing alignment of business plans to the group’s risk appetite.

Job Purpose

Enable the bank to achieve its strategic objectives through risk appetite management and active credit portfolio management.

Job Responsibilities Develop and maintain guideline frameworks and policies for setting Credit Risk Appetite thresholds for the bank. Review, check, and challenge proposals by business units to revise risk appetite thresholds, in line with NBG strategy. Support the achievement of the business strategy; objectives and values by reviewing Nedbank and Business Unit Plan and ensuring delivered systems; process; services and solutions are aligned. Involvement in the assessment challenge of the Group’s thee-year Credit Risk management plan and/or forecast. Build and formally present reports by monitoring business performance within the set risk appetite and through analysis. Report to; monitor and advise operational areas to manage trends through analysis for ad-hoc requirements. Regular monitoring and reporting of key risk appetite metrics to credit committees. Monitor concentration risk against set limits and thresholds, through understanding credit correlations and sensitivities in the Group’s portfolio. Analysis of portfolio credit quality to inform management action. Review credit strategy and reporting in accordance with industry best practices. Interpret regulatory reforms and assess the impact on credit risk parameters, processes, results and reporting. Research into peer banks' credit strategy and analysis of growth to benchmark Nedbank's strategic credit initiatives. Provide trend analysis and assurance on portfolio movements. Assess the adequacy of the group's impairments and report it to the Executive committee. Attend and participate in impairment and technical forum meetings to keep abreast with what is happening in order to assess the adequacy of impairments. Report/communicate insights and results to relevant committees / forums to facilitate improved measurement and management of risk.  Increase efficiencies through programming and automating processes. Enhance business efficiencies and ensure compliance through formal communications and interacting with external bodies. Contribute to a high-performance team culture and continuous improvement via collaboration, knowledge sharing, mentoring, sprint planning and retrospectives, daily scrums, and project participation. Minimum Experience Level 5+ years credit risk analytics and reporting Essential Qualifications - NQF Level Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees Preferred Qualification Bachelor’s degree with a quantitative/finance focus (Mathematics/Statistics/Econometrics/Commerce/Engineering). Relevant post-graduate quantitative qualification Preferred Certifications Professional Risk Manager (PRM), Financial Risk Manager (FRM) and/or Project Management Professional (PMP) CA(SA), CFA Type of Exposure Risk Appetite, Data Analysis, Credit Risk Strategy, Reporting Technical / Professional Knowledge Excellent business writing and presentation skills SAS/SQL, PowerBI and Microsoft Suite Risk management process and frameworks Industry trends Quantitative Skills Behavioural Competencies Applied Learning Coaching Communication Collaborating Decision Making Continuous Improvement Quality Orientation Technical/Professional Knowledge and Skills Disclaimer
