ServiceChannel’s DevOps team is looking for a seasoned Site Reliability Engineer Manager to join our expanding Infrastructure team.
As an SRE Manager at ServiceChannel, you will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of our systems and applications. You will lead a team of talented SREs and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to implement best practices in site reliability and system architecture.
The ideal candidate understands the overlap between writing and “running” code based on a solid understanding of software engineering principles paired with key operational fundamentals that enable them to navigate between these worlds seamlessly. They will have familiarity with common production environment services, helping ServiceChannel grow, automate, and monitor our footprint.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and mentor a team of Site Reliability Engineers, providing guidance and support in maintaining and improving system reliability. Working closely with the Engineering and Customer Support teams to bridge gaps in code, infrastructure, and knowledge around ServiceChannel solutions. Collaborate with software engineering, operations, and product teams to design and implement scalable and reliable systems. Establish and enforce best practices for incident response, monitoring, and system reliability. Develop and maintain performance metrics to track system health and identify areas for improvement. Collaborate closely with our CICD, CloudOps, and DBA teams to spearhead initiatives aimed at automating processes and enhancing deployment pipelines, ensuring efficient and reliable system releases. Participate in on-call rotation and incident response, working closely with the team to resolve issues promptly. Seek new opportunities to increase efficiency through automation. Measuring and optimizing the service: tuning alerts, right-sizing capacity, identifying availability, performance and security opportunitiesRequired Skills & Experience:
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills. Prior experience in managing a high-performing SRE team or related engineering teams is essential. 6+ years of relevant experience focused on service reliability: DevOps, systems administration, QA Automation, application development, build, release, and deployment in a Microsoft Windows Server environment. Experience with cloud orchestration (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, Heroku). Experience with configuration management and orchestration tools (Puppet, Chef, Salt, Terraform, or similar). Experience running containerized applications using Kubernetes or similar technologies. Experience interacting with production environments. Experience working with Unix/Linux systems from kernel to shell and beyond including working with system libraries, file systems, and client-server protocols. Familiarity with commercial software development practices (version control, defect tracking, product schedules and deliverables). Caching layer technologies (Elasticache / memcached, redis). Networking and security experience. Experience with monitoring and anomaly detection systems. Experience working on complex, 24x7-available distributed systems. Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools. Deep knowledge of developer workflows with Git. Strong track record of documenting processes, procedures and best practices. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and collaborative environment. Participation in on-call rotation. Familiarity with ServiceChannel’s Tech Stack: Runtime Infrastructure : Azure, AWS .Net, IIS Storage Systems: MS SQL Server, Redis, Memcached Build: GitHub, TeamCity, Azure Devops, Octopus, Fastlane, Jenkins, msdeploy Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field or 8-10 years in relevant job experience.Preferred Skills & Experience:
