**Responsibilities:**
GENERAL SUMMARY
Provides speech-language services to patients through consultation, treatment, teaching and direct patient care. Responsible for oversight of daily clinical services at selected inpatient or outpatient locations including development of clinical schedules, management of time requests and cross-coverage, handling of patient complaints/concerns, incident reporting, and direct supervision of related speech-language pathology staff members.
**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS**
+ Selects and supervises Speech/Language Pathologist staff, providing training, development, and evaluation of performance. Counsels staff, acting on discipline, promotion, salary, and other personnel issues. Coordinates and reviews all requests for new and replacement positions, initiating all personnel action forms with department leadership.
+ Serves as departmental resource for clinical sub-specialty area and/or executes departmental leadership function. Responds to escalated patient complaints and concerns. Oversees incident reporting. Manages the daily clinical services of a location.
+ Performs and interprets speech and language evaluations for patients with communicative disorders and those requiring more specialized care, such as patients with dysphagia, laryngectomy and aphasia. Plans and provides speech and language therapy and intervention based on evaluation results. Develops and initiates treatment programs for more complex patients, including Plans of Care.
+ Provides consultation for complex patients, such as those with neurological disorders, voice disorders and closed head/traumatic brain injuries. Performs and interprets specialized tests for highly complex patients.
+ Provides counseling, education, and guidance to patients and their families regarding disorder(s). Adapts existing resources to meet patient and caregiver needs.
+ Develops guidelines for implementing patient care to a wide variety of patients. Evaluates current procedures in speech and language assessment and treatment and recommends changes, including professional competencies.
+ Maintains comprehensive electronic medical records (EMR) for each patient. Communicates through written reports, flowsheet documentation, and other EMR specific tools. Recommends changes in standard departmental practices.

**MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE**
+ Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology and 5 years of clinical experience required
+ Or equivalent combination of education and experience
**LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS**
+ Certificate of Clinical in Speech-Language Pathology upon hire required and
+ Licensure in Speech-Language Pathology upon hire required
