Manager, Software Engineering

The Trust and Safety Experience team owns all customer facing components of the Trust & Safety Platform and supports the user interfaces for Affirm Products like Card, Savings, Prequal, Checkout, User Portal and Repayment flows across various geographies.  This team is responsible for building the User Experiences for sign in / signup, authentication,  fraud detection & mitigation flows and creating backend APIs to deliver the Identity and Fraud decisions for users who come through various platforms (Web, iOS, Android) and entry channels. 

The Trust and Safety team is growing and we are looking for a seasoned Engineering Manager with a track record of leading high performing teams. You will lead a fast paced team to  build optimizations through experimentation and improve the E2E conversion. Top candidates should have a long-term system health mindset, with the understanding that ensuring the proper function of these systems is your primary responsibility.

What You’ll Do

Collaborate with Product Managers and Analytics teams to implement business critical features enabling new user experiences across the entire stack (mobile, web, backend). Create a long term technical roadmap that enables the team to keep up with our fast growing business Coach, develop, retain, and provide build individual growth plan for the  team members Establish OKRs and critical metrics to set the engineering team’s direction and measure its success Mentor engineers on the team to help improve their designs, code quality, and testing. Own availability and performance of your team’s systems. Build a strong engineering culture around innovation, accountability, empathy, and execution Actively participate in making their team and workplace an inclusive environment for people from all backgrounds. Build relationships with people across engineering and other organizations for the design, implementation, roll-out and maintenance of projects. Participate in hiring engineers and growing talent

What We Look For

This position requires either equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field. 3+ years managing high performing engineering teams 7+ years in software development roles with proficiency in backend programming languages like Python and front end frameworks like React or AngularJs Prior experience in architecting, building, launching and maintaining enterprise scale products. Experience with cloud service providers such as AWS Experience with data frameworks such as Spark, Kafka, Kubernetes and Airflow Prior experience growing and managing a high performing engineering team. Strong cross-team communication and collaboration skills. Prior experience in a fintech or in the financial industry in general a plus A humble team-player who places the needs of others first and participates in the development of peers on the team.

Base Pay Grade - P
Equity Grade - 13
Employees new to Affirm typically come in at the start of the pay range. Affirm focuses on providing a simple and transparent pay structure which is based on a variety of factors, including location, experience and job-related skills.
Base pay is part of a total compensation package that may include equity rewards, monthly stipends for health, wellness and tech spending, and benefits (including 100% subsidized medical coverage, dental and vision for you and your dependents.)
USA base pay range (CA, WA, NY, NJ, CT) per year: $225,000 - $275,000
USA base pay range (all other U.S. states) per year: $200,000 - $250,000
