We have a unique opportunity to join our regulatory team as a Manager, Revenue Requirements.  The regulatory and revenue requirements team works to ensure a fair financial balance among the interests of regulators, customers, and shareholders through various legal proceedings for the state of New Hampshire and Massachusetts.

The role of a Manager, Revenue Requirements is a non-traditional accounting/finance role where you will be working cross functionally to support regulatory filings submitted to the New Hampshire Public Utilities Commission ("NH PUC") and the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities (“MA DPU”). You will be responsible for a 3–5-person team reconciling revenues and expenses used in various cost tracking mechanisms. You will prepare schedules to be included in distribution regulatory rate filings for the Eversource electric and gas operating companies of New Hampshire and Massachusetts. You will play a key role in driving regulatory strategy, supporting information requests and questions received from the NH PUC, MA DPU, MA Attorney General’s Office (“AGO”), and the NH Office of the Consumer Advocate ("OCA") and other stakeholders, while testifying as an expert company witness or supporting other expert witnesses testifying to each filing.

This is a hybrid role. The first three months are fulltime in the office. 

Must be available to travel to the New Hampshire Public Utilities Commission and Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities, as applicable.

Essential Functions: 

Responsible for directing the preparation of filings to state public utilities commission.  Manage and coordinate the preparation of financial and accounting filing materials (testimony, supporting schedules, and other exhibits) required in order to defend the Company’s regulatory proposals.Develops analysis or oversees the development of analysis that will support the filings in an ethical manner.  Analysis will include accounting practices and financial principles used in general industry, as well as those unique to utilities.  Work products must be able to withstand challenges from opposing parties. Manages the preparation of cost-of-service filings that support a reasonable rate of return to investors, including filings related to periodic reconciling mechanisms as well as base rate cases.  Develops project plans and timelines, leads multi-functional teams through the drafting of filing material, prioritizes tasks, resolves disagreements, and ensures timelines are met.Manages a team of three to five direct reports; monitor all action plans and critical path schedules to ensure deadlines are being met; set direction of the work group based upon the established business plan and filing schedules and develop actionable plans with staff to achieve the established goals, objectives, and timelines.  Oversees work organization and planning; provides clear communication regarding day-to-day work and/or project assignments; and ensures the efficient use of resources.Coordinates the preparation of responses to discovery from regulatory agencies and interveners in support of the cost-of-service witness, and other witnesses as appropriate.Testifies as an expert company witness in support of regulatory proposals.Provides technical expertise related to regulatory initiatives which includes testifying before public regulatory bodies.Fosters a productive, engaging, and inclusive work environment in which open communication is encouraged and obstacles to open communication are addressed quickly. Build capability across team, ensures appropriate training and cross-training, resources, and support for the team.

Qualifications:

Technical Knowledge/Skill:

Demonstrated leadership ability and strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to assess situations and reach conclusions objectively.Knowledge and experience of utility ratemaking theories and processes.Strong knowledge of basic accounting theory and financial principlesStrong knowledge, experience and demonstrated ability in areas of financial reporting and analyses.Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment to meet regulatory deadlines.Strong teaming skills, is eager to learn, contribute and collaborate to support the achievement regulatory compliance.Strong time management and organization skills, ability to adapt quickly to changing environments, see your responsibilities through to their conclusion.Demonstrated ability in working across functional / organizational boundaries including with attorneys, consultants, and regulatory staff in multiple states, including other peers within the industry.Microsoft Excel advanced skills required.

Preferred Knowledge/Experience:

Application of revenue requirements theory as well as the applicable regulations pertaining to Eversource cost tracking mechanisms.Understanding of deferred accounting principles for public utilitiesUnderstanding of the concepts related to rate base and operating income as they pertain to the Companies’ return on equity.Accounting research techniques

Education:

A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, or closely related discipline required. MBA preferred.

Experience:      

Ten (10) plus years of related experience required.

  Compensation and Benefits:

Eversource offers a competitive total rewards program. The annual salary range for this position is $146,000 - $163,000 plus incentive. Salary is commensurate with your experience. Check out the career site for an overview of benefits.
