Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Role Purpose

Create, promote and oversee innovation programs or technical organizations. Leads and manages a cross-functional group to support new and existing products, processes and/or technologies to the business. Achieves cost, quality, asset effectiveness and service

Define, develop, and implement process strategies integrating hardware development that supports the OCS vision and technology objectives. Advance and document scientific understanding for connectivity processes. Lead and develop a global network of subject matter experts to sustain and expand process capability knowledge in world-wide manufacturing locations. Mentor local engineering talent and influence technical process experts from all global locations.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Champion deployment of new process technologies that reduce manufacturing cost, increase capacity, and sustain process capability. Drive/support deep fundamental understanding projects through the use of modeling, DMAIC, design of experiments and MEE hypothesis methods. Identify process parameters, tolerances and controls required to successfully implement Quality Architecture in Connectivity plants. Participate in Product Team Road mapping exercises and understand any affect on core process competencies. Lead and develop an effective global technical network spanning the Technology Community, division engineering, and plant levels. Identify and sponsor Technology enabled cost reductions using DMAIC/DESGN tools. Support the Global Project Priority List by providing timely and accurate inputs to the GPL process by effectively leveraging all available global resources.

Experiences/Education – Required

 

B.S. in technical field 2+ years supervisory experience 2+ years' experience in cable, fiber optics connector assembly Proven track record with projects Has led cross-functional matrixed teams and projects Project management experience Knowledgeable and experienced in a business from innovation through product

 

Experiences/Education – Desired

 

M.S. in technical field Experience working across organizations along the innovation stages Global experience – able to function in a foreign country Is familiar with Performance Excellence tools Innovation Black Belt

The range for this position is $143,473.00 - $197,276.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
