Manager, Product Management
What You'll Do Avalara is seeking an experienced Manager of Product Management to lead and manage a team of product managers in delivering world-class SaaS solutions. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the development, launch, and optimization of Avalara’s core products, ensuring alignment with business goals and customer needs. You’ll mentor and guide product managers, helping them translate market and user insights into innovative and scalable SaaS solutions. Key Responsibilities: Lead, mentor, and manage a team of product managers, providing guidance on product strategy, prioritization, and execution. Collaborate with engineering, UX, sales, and marketing teams to drive the successful delivery of high-quality SaaS products. Define and oversee product roadmaps, ensuring alignment with Avalara’s business objectives and market opportunities. Ensure that product teams stay focused on user needs, collecting and acting on customer feedback to improve product experience. Work closely with leadership to communicate product vision, performance, and opportunities for innovation. Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify new product opportunities and areas for differentiation. Manage cross-functional collaboration to ensure products are launched on time, within scope, and with a clear value proposition. Track product performance through KPIs and metrics, using data to drive continuous improvement. Foster a culture of innovation and accountability within the product management team. Qualifications: 7+ years of experience in product management, with at least 3 years managing product managers or cross-functional teams. Proven experience delivering SaaS products in an Agile environment, with a track record of successful launches. Strong understanding of cloud-based SaaS platforms and the ability to work closely with technical teams to solve complex problems. Excellent leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to develop high-performing product teams. Experience managing a product portfolio, including the ability to balance short-term wins with long-term strategy. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization. Experience working with B2B or enterprise software is preferred. Knowledge of tax compliance or financial software is a plus but not required. Preferred Qualifications: Strong analytical mindset with experience in using data to inform product decisions. Proficiency with Agile tools such as Jira, Confluence, or similar platforms. Experience working with global teams across multiple time zones. Agile Methodologies: Experience managing products in an Agile environment, with a deep understanding of how to balance priorities, manage backlogs, and ensure timely delivery in collaboration with engineering teams. Data-Driven Decision Making: Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data to inform product decisions, track success, and drive continuous improvements. Adaptability and Problem-Solving: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where priorities can shift quickly. You should be resourceful and innovative in solving complex challenges. Global Team Management: Comfortable managing and collaborating with global teams across different time zones, with the ability to lead virtual teams effectively. Technical Aptitude: While not required to be an engineer, you should have a solid understanding of SaaS architectures and cloud-based products, allowing you to effectively work with technical teams.
