Job Description:
The role provides strategic direction and technical leadership for packaging design and implementation within the Petcare North America Packaging R&D team, Manufacturing Network and Technologies. The objective of this role is to manage key programs in innovation, cost savings and supply continuity through engagement with key stake holders to frame business challenges, prioritize and allocate appropriate resources and to support the successful development and deployment of packaging technologies and projects into the market. This role will partner with the technical packaging experts, other platform managers across R&D and their team to deliver the packaging agenda.
The team supporting this role will be comprised of 4-6 associates supporting packaging focused on the C&T technology platform.
What are we looking for?Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree
7+ years in engineering technology development
Consistently meets or exceeds the standards and expectations of internal and external customers and consumers
Manage scale-up risk and introduction of technology into supply chain
Demonstrated process and packaging science, packaging engineering, machine design development and design through virtual prototyping methods
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Engineering, Business or related technical field OR Advanced degree in Engineering or Business Administration
Experience in leveraging broader packaging capability through building on external network of vendors.
What will be your key responsibilities?Establish a team environment which allows for associate development, prioritizes key resources against the most critical challenges and connects a variety of technical workstreams to create efficiency.
Build a high performing and engaged team through recruitment and development of associates, coaching, mentoring, culture and technical competency training by improving the capabilities of the existing team and, where necessary, upgrading talent.
Develop and implements a new package pipeline to deliver the platform’s financial and strategic growth ambitions. Drives a culture of continuous improvement as solutions are deployed into the network. Aligns packaging materials with packing technologies across the network.
Creates value through cost optimization of existing packaging materials, designs and supplier network. Support the delivery of the annual cost savings target and ensures security of supply/business continuity through qualification of multiple vendors.
Work closely with supply chain and commercial (procurement) in developing and deploying the packaging agenda. Leverages and broadens Mars pool of capabilities by creating an external network of vendors in partnership with the cross-functional teams and material experts.
Ensures compliance with all internal and external quality and food safety/regulatory requirements
Supports the implementation of packaging sustainability strategy to ensure sustainability goals are met for your technology platform.
