**Position Summary**
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced CNC Machine Shop Manager to lead our precision machining operations at our facility in El Cajon, CA. The CNC Machine Shop Manager will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations, capacity planning, production scheduling, CNC programming, product quality, and ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to plan work effectively, prioritize tasks, and coordinate resources to ensure timely completion of projects while maintaining high-quality standards.
**Essential Responsibilities**
1. **Capacity Planning & Scheduling:**
2. Develop and maintain production schedules based on customer orders, inventory levels, and machine availability.
3. Optimize resource allocation to meet production targets while maximizing machine utilization and minimizing downtime.
4. Collaborate with sales, engineering, and purchasing teams to forecast capacity requirements and align production schedules accordingly.
5. Establish structured workflows to ensure seamless handoff between production stages and maintain production continuity.
6. **CNC Program Optimization:**
7. Review and optimize CNC programs to improve cycle times, reduce tool wear, and enhance overall efficiency.
8. Collaborate with engineering and programming teams to implement best practices for tool paths, cutting parameters, and fixture design.
9. Implement standardization practices for CNC programs across machines and product lines.
10. **Quality Assurance (AQL):**
11. Implement and maintain Acceptable Quality Limit (AQL) standards to ensure consistent product quality.
12. Conduct regular inspections and audits to verify compliance with quality standards.
13. Collaborate with quality control teams to identify root causes of defects and drive corrective actions.
14. **Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement:**
15. Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and improve workflow efficiency.
16. Implement external setups and quick changeover methodologies (SMED) to minimize machine downtime.
17. Promote a culture of continuous improvement among team members.
18. Track and improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) to maximize machine performance.
19. Establish and maintain metrics for quality, machine uptime, and efficiency to drive operational performance.
20. **Preventative & Predictive Maintenance:**
21. Develop and oversee a comprehensive preventative maintenance program for all CNC equipment.
22. Implement AI-driven predictive maintenance systems to monitor machine performance and detect potential issues before they cause downtime.
23. Collaborate with maintenance teams to schedule and perform routine maintenance activities.
24. **Tooling & Inventory Management:**
25. Identify, order, and maintain inventory of tooling and consumables required for production.
26. Collaborate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of tooling and materials.
27. Implement cost-effective tooling solutions to enhance production efficiency.
28. **Team Leadership & Training:**
29. Supervise, train, and mentor machine shop personnel, including CNC operators, programmers, and maintenance technicians.
30. Supervise shop foreman and shop leads to ensure effective leadership and operational consistency.
31. Foster a collaborative and safety-conscious work environment.
32. Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members.
33. Develop and implement cross-training programs to enhance workforce flexibility and skill diversity.
34. **Safety & Compliance:**
35. Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
36. Promote and enforce safety protocols and procedures.
**Position Requirements**
+ Bachelor's degree plus 10 years’ experience in a related field.
+ Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in CNC machining and machine shop management.
+ Understanding of CNC programming (G-code, CAM software such as Mastercam, Fusion 360, or similar).
+ Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles, external setups, and quick changeover methodologies.
+ Experience with AI-based predictive maintenance systems is highly desirable.
+ Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
+ Ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and technical drawings.
+ Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems for production scheduling.
+ Experience in identifying and ordering tooling and consumables.
+ Demonstrated success in cross-training employees to promote operational flexibility.

The salary offered to a candidate is based several factors such as candidate experience and qualifications, location, as well as market and business considerations.
**Equal Pay Act Range**
The total compensation range for this role is $132,400-$198,000 annually, plus a benefits package
