What You'll Contribute
As a member of the Office of the CIO team, the Manager of IT Talent Strategy will lead Sallie Mae’s Technology talent management efforts. The successful candidate will execute on a wide variety of talent related programs and initiatives aimed at strengthening our team members technical capabilities needed to deliver technology solutions into our environments.
What You'll Do
Work directly with OCIO leadership to develop a Talent Strategy roadmap aimed at achieving talent & professional development goals created for the upcoming year and beyond.
Coordinate and manage our IT Summer Internship program.
Coordinate the annual PCI required training for impacted team members as a result of Archer control ADV24. This is typically a Feb thru Mar activity.
Evolve and execute the technical skills assessment of our team members.
Utilize assessment results to help identify technical capability gaps to mitigate.
Work with Architecture and Engineering Team Leads to develop learning program to mitigate these capability gaps.
Partner with HR Talent Acquisition and People Managers on the recruitment process of IT talent needs, including creating job descriptions, sourcing candidates, and overseeing the hiring process.
Evolve and enhance our new hire onboarding program for large cohort groups as well as individual new hires.
Conduct exit interviews for team members voluntarily leaving our Technology organization.
Develop a quarterly report for OCIO leadership summarizing themes from these exit interviews.
Monitor professional development activities throughout each PI utilizing ADO and available dashboards.
Develop and send professional development activity reports to people managers each PI to further encourage professional development growth of our team members.
Administer learning licenses of the Pluralsight / A Cloud Guru digital training platforms. Rotate low usage license holders to other team members.
Monitor Pluralsight / A Cloud Guru usage and promote these platforms through various communication channels.
Assist with the annual renewal process as well as FRP annual refreshes.
Assist in administration of the Technology Insights Viva Engage channel posting desired content such as new hire welcome messages and other important messages.
Work with HR Talent Acquisition to coordinate and manage job fairs with local universities or other venues.
Develop and maintain relationships with external recruitment partners and other talent resources.
Identify opportunities for coaching, training, and mentoring to enhance employee performance and engagement.
Stay current with industry trends and best practices related to talent management.
Analyze talent data and provide insights and recommendations to senior leadership.
Identify culture improvement opportunities and implement programs to address them.

What you have
Minimum education, skills and experience required.
Technical acumen and Industry Knowledge: have a base understanding of programming languages, software development lifecycles and nuances of various technical roles.
Remain up to date on emerging technologies and industry trends to understand workforce needs and address employee development.
Solid understanding of talent strategy best practices.
Experience working with senior leadership and managing teams.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships, facilitate discussions, and present ideas effectively.
Analytical and problem-solving abilities, with experience in using data to drive talent strategy decisions.
Project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously and deliver results within specified timelines.
Preferred education, skills, and experience.
Bachelor's degree in Technology, Business Administration, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
5+ years of experience in IT talent management or related field.
