Job Description

Reporting to the Director, the Manager will provide all aspects of Canadian international tax support to the Brookfield Property Group (BPG). 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist with government tax audits relating to international tax queries;

Assist with the international tax components of the quarterly tax provision and financial statement audits;

Collaborate with internal and external professional teams in preparing T1134 information returns and surplus computations;

Analyze and document the Canadian tax implications of foreign affiliate transactions, including review of financial statements and legal documents;

Manage regular ad hoc questions and requests from various internal and external teams; and

Stay current with changing tax laws that may impact BPG transactions and structures.

​QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum 2 years of tax specialization in a large corporation, major accounting firm or law firm;

Exposure to Canadian Foreign Affiliate rules and proficiency in reading and interpreting the Income Tax Act considered an asset;

Completion of Chartered Professional Accountant, LLB or Master of Taxation;

Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to describe complex tax concepts to various non-tax audiences in a clear and concise manner;

Detail-oriented with strong organization skills;

Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment;

Self-motivated and proactive with respect to managing workload and professional development; and

Skilled in the use of Excel.
