SUMMARY
The Manager, Facility Assessments is the program leader and subject matter expert for the Facility Assessment consulting practice responsible for resource planning and recruitment, project management processes including financial management of Facility Assessments projects as assigned. This person is also the lead technical resource for the various client and/or on-demand facility assessment projects and programs, supporting the integrated the various business streams including, but not limited to, Asset Management, Spatial Data Group, Building Sciences, Sustainability, and Workplace Solutions.
Consulting services includes data collection/assessments of asset management data, due diligence for acquisition and disposition, accessibility audits, virtual location surveys, gender inclusivity, climate risk, and other various on-demand client requests for consulting.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Client Reporting & Project Management
Maintains effective relationships with clients and account leads. Leads day-to-day communication with clients including regular status updates, managing client expectations and ensuring client satisfaction. Manage project intake, identifies project risks, mitigation/contingency plans and deployment of site work to assessors for execution. Supports scheduling as required. Reports on and provides feedback on logistic schedules including monthly and weekly notifications to key stakeholders.People Leadership
Demonstrates strong, competent leadership for team members to guide them in reaching their full potential and meeting their objectives, which supports achievement of our corporate goals. Specifically, these responsibilities include but not limited to:
Full involvement with recruiting talent. Provides mentoring, coaching and guidance to all team members. Objectively recommends compensation adjustments. Performance management of assigned team. Oversees a team including leads and condition assessors as required. Supervise and training of team members and clients as required. Ensure H&S protocols are documented and adhered to by all team members.Facility Assessment
Leads a team of assessors in the execution of facility assessments, specific to client needs. Refines assessment scope of work as required. Provides technical subject matter expertise on assessment standards, guidelines, other specialized assessments. Stays current on facility assets, new technologies, emerging risks and leads practice sharing across the broader Professional Services Team. Complete QA/QC review of all completed assessments for accuracy and suitability for client needs. Perform property assessments occasionally with limited travelling.Financial Management
Monitor and meet financial targets, monitor program efficiencies, collaborate with finance team. Manage team utilization target for team members. Collaborate with other business service lines to increase revenue.General Management
Prepares and ensures all deliverable submissions are professional and suitable for client submission. Conducts research on leading asset inspection and assessment practices. Responsible for developing and maintaining subconsultant relationships as required. Completes lessons learned reviews and identifies improvement or new opportunities related to asset management. Provides technical subject matter expertise related to asset inspection. Responsible for day-to-day client relationship management. Escalates issues to senior management proactively. Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
University degree in relevant field such as engineering, architecture or building science. 4 years (Manager) of condition assessment work experience or related engineering experience such as infrastructure design & construction. Fundamental knowledge of national and provincial building codes and regulatory requirements. Familiarity with American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) Practice E2018-01 “Standard Guide for Property Condition Assessments: Baseline Property”. Familiarity with CSA ASC B651-23 Accessible Design for Building Environment, Accessibility Canada Act, AODA, other provincial guidelines. Fundamental knowledge of general building design, construction and facility operation. Experience with asset management software systems. Ability to work with a team and provide direction to staff. Strong written and verbal communication skills along with presentation abilities. Strong computer skills including the ability to learn and leverage new data analytics tools.Skills
Ability to lift 50 lbs. Ability to work at heights. Ability to work outdoors regularly and perform full building site assessments.Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation
Professional Engineering or Architecture Designation required. Valid driver’s license, passport and ability to travel required. Asset Management designations an asset. BCIN, an asset. LEED Certification an asset. PMP Certification an asset.
