Job Description

  

Teledyne Energetics designs, develops and manufactures Air Crew Safety rugged electronics for ejection seats and various initiation devices that range from detonators (EBW/LEEFI) to Electronic Safe and Arm products.  The group consists of two businesses: Teledyne Electronic Safety Products (ESP) located in Chatsworth, CA and Teledyne RISI located in Tracy, CA.

We are looking for a highly enthusiastic engineering professional that possess exceptional technical, communication and presentation abilities.  This position is pivotal to maintaining and growing technical capabilities in the area of Aircrew Safety and Energetic devices.

The opportunity will offer exciting journey of modernizing and growing engineering team and facilitate expansion into more complex development activities in the defense and rugged commercial electronics markets.

Candidate will plan, lead and ensure successful execution of all design activities associated with Aircrew Safety and energetic products.

This position part of the engineering department and will report directly to a Director of Engineering at Teledyne Energetics.  Position is located in Chatsworth, CA and will require hands-on involvement with all engineering efforts (design, development, integration, validation, execution).  The role will have engineering design responsibility that covers products that span across both ESP and RISI locations. 

Objectives:

Provide engineering design leadership to ensure effective utilization of technical resources, equipment and tools to meet schedule, budget and sales/profitability objectives.

Act as a principal in technical discussions with the customer (TIMs, etc) and all design review events (SRR, PDR, IDR, CDR, TRR).

Influence and establish engineering best practices through solid design decisions, process and tools in the area of rugged electronics design.

Act as a principal in investigation of equipment/product issues, drive root cause analysis and make technical recommendations.

Encourage and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Improve engineering process and tools.

Responsibilities:

Act as a principal/primary designer for all new developments/modifications.

Ensure that the solution design meets regulatory requirements and qualification criteria and that program documentary obligations are created and distributed in a timely manner.

Provide product lifecycle support for testing, deployment, and updates.

Work with minimal supervision and be proactive with providing timely status updates and reports to program management.

Support proposal preparation, customer presentations and program milestone meetings.

Skills:

Ability to think broadly and systematically resolve highly technical problems and multiple priorities.

Strong understanding of system engineering concepts, requirements management and systematic problem solving skills.

Strong debug/integration/troubleshooting experience

Highly enthusiastic, motivated and engaging technical leader.

Strong leadership, communication and organizational skills

Ability to organize and manage multiple development programs and priorities.

Strong analytical and decision-making skills.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline (Electrical/Systems/Aerospace)

Master’s Degree in a technical field is a plus

5+ years of progressive experience in a key leadership/engineering management roles

Technical competency and experience with rugged electronics design (analog and digital)

DO-178/254 development experience or equivalent critical safety process rigor is a plus

Hands-on experience with rugged electronics design and validation

Experience with energetic systems/architectures is highly desired

Able to lead and execute design/development work with minimal guidance

Salary Range:

$141,900.00-$189,200.000

The anticipated salary range listed for this role is only an estimate. Actual compensation for successful candidates is carefully determined based on several factors including, but not limited to, location, education/training, work experience, key skills, and type of position.
