Royal Caribbean Group’s Corporate Communications Team has an exciting career opportunity for a full time Communications Manager reporting to the AVP, Corporate Communications, International & Destination Development.
This role is based in Nassau, Paradise Island, Bahamas.
Position Summary:
Royal Caribbean group is growing the company’s presence in the Bahamas following the announcement of new private destinations in the region. We are looking for a dynamic, passionate, creative, and well-connected communications professional to join the Corporate Communications team. This pivotal role will develop and execute key communications strategies that enhance our relationships with media, working alongside counterparts in community relations, government relations, and destination development teams, as well as other key stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have both a visionary and tactical mindset, with already-established strong local media relationships, a deep knowledge of the market and known stakeholders, and a track record of successful communications initiatives. Must have strong flexibility and adaptability to quick changes and the ability to work in a highly matrixed organization. This role will report into the AVP of Corporate Communications, International and Destination Development with a dotted line into President, RCG Bahamas.
Key Responsibilities:
Support RCG business objectives in the Bahamas with the creation and execution of comprehensive local communication in partnership with Community Relations to activate in-market community outreach programs, with the goal of ultimately strengthening positive corporate brand reputation among key stakeholders including media, community leaders, public officials. Support the communication efforts of programmatic efforts, events, partnerships and campaigns with local public officials, agencies, community leaders, nonprofits, and other relevant organizations. Responsible for written communications, including press releases, executive communications (internal and external letters, speeches, etc.), statements, and editing content, pitching content ideas. Independently develops and executes appropriate strategies to address communications challenges. Excellent writing skills and creative mindset: press release writing, story narrative and message creation, etc. Proven experience in a strategic leadership role, managing numerous internal and external stakeholders. Strong ability to interact with senior executive team and build effective relationships within the company, public, guests and media. Flexibility to work outside normal hours and travel as appropriate (domestic & international) Excellent relationship builder - ability to create, foster and leverage relationships to achieve outstanding results. Experience of managing relationships with a PR agency Good presence - able to quickly gain the confidence of senior management. Matrix and multi-national organization experience preferred. Demonstrated success in planning and implementing integrated PR campaigns with a proven impact on the bottom line. Serve as a primary spokesperson in the Bahamas, handling local media inquiries and public relations matters with the aim of enhancing our brand's reputation. Align with corporate and lead local crisis management efforts, including the development and implementation of communication strategies to manage any issues that may arise. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate community relations and government affairs into broader organizational strategies. Help to manage the communication budget.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Political Science, or a related field. 7-10 years of experience in a similar role, with a proven track record in a global organization that has regional prioritizations across public relations, community engagement, and government relations. Strong understanding of the political and regulatory environment in the Bahamas. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence a wide range of stakeholders. Strong relationship-building skills with internal and external stakeholders; depth of knowledge working cross-functionally across different teams and diverse geographies in service of overarching corporate goals. An executive mindset with the ability to serve as an advisor to senior leadership. Strategic thinker with excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management capabilities. Ability to work under pressure and manage crises effectively. Deep commitment to ethical practices and integrity. Strong writer and media relations rolodex. Comfortability in a fast-paced environment
