The Department of Budget & Strategic Planning performs three core functions for the City of Norfolk. The Budget team performs advanced budget preparation and financial research to support the formulation and administration of the City's annual operating and capital budgets. The Grants team manages the city’s Grants program including researching and tracking grants. CivicLab performs data analysis, manages transparency (open data) and data literacy programs. The Department of Budget & Strategic Planning is seeking an innovative and analytical professional to the position of Management Analyst I to work across all three departmental functions. Department Hiring Salary Range: $46,589 - $53,577 Essential Functions Essential functions include but are not limited to: + Serve as the payroll liaison with the Department of Finance + Serve as the HR liaison with the Department of Human Resources + Serve as an IT liaison with the Department of Information Technology + Perform office management functions such as ordering supplies, managing IT inventory, etc. + Schedule and plan for citywide and departmental meetings + Manage the Director’s calendar. + Process invoices + Write and proofread documents and other deliverables. + Assist with creating professional documents and PowerPoint decks. + Perform research. + Coordinate the creation of materials with the Department of Communications + Assist with resident engagement. + Assist with managing grants and grants deadlines Education/Experience Work requires broad knowledge in a professional business field. Knowledge is normally acquired through four years of college resulting in a Bachelor's degree or equivalent. Two years' experience in a professional office environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. This will be a pre-tax payroll deduction. If you are hired January 1, 2022, or after to a position with Virginia Retirement System (VRS) benefits, you will be required to contribute five percent (5%) of your salary toward your retirement benefit. This will be a pre-tax payroll deduction. + The Tuition Assistance Program is established to encourage employees toward continued self-development and education.
