Northern Light Blue Hill Hospital Department: Imaging Position is located:Northern Light Blue Hill Hospital Work Type: PRN Hours Per Week: No Hours Assigned Work Schedule: Variable Summary: Under the direction of the Medical Imaging Director, the Mammography Technologist performs a variety of imaging procedures and is responsible for patient safety protocols. Participates in QI/QA activities. Responsibilities: + Instructs and prepares patients for mammography examinations. + Accurately completes patient assessment forms. + Able to assess patient pain interfering with imaging procedure – makes appropriate physician contact for intervention. + Performs procedures relating to mammography such as: needle localizations, magnification views, spot compression views and post-surgical examinations. + Complete all phases of processing the exam to include loading patient demographics, imaging, processing images and transferring images to PACS. + Works directly with patients, mammography staff, surgeons, and radiologist to ensure the best quality patient care. + Responsible for machine and room cleanup after procedures. + Ensures result letters are printed and mailed according to MQSA and FDA standards. + Understands and practices proper use of all equipment, never operates equipment inconsistent with manufacturer’s instruction. + Maintains and is responsible for QA and MQSA data. + Assists director with development and implementation of policies and protocols to assure compliance with regulatory bodies. + Coordinates schedule with Imaging Services Coordinators and charge nurses to complete departmental workload in a timely fashion. + Maintain order and cleanliness of department. + Complete all proper documentation to ensure timely results. + Recommend action necessary for quality improvement. Other Information: + Registered or registry eligible by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. + Additional Mammography certification is preferred. Credentials + Required Radiologic Tech-Radiographer Education + Required Associate's Degree Required Experience + 1 year/years of Relevant Work Experience Working Conditions + Potential exposure to abusive and/or aggressive people. + Work with computers, typing, reading or writing. + Potential exposure to diseases or infections. + Potential exposure to hazardous materials. + Lifting, moving and loading 30 to 50 pounds.
