Come join our team! Responsibilities Use hand and power tools to construct, repair, and modify wood structures and items such as frameworks, partitions, and cabinets. Prepare various surfaces for painting by sanding, wire brushing, scraping, applying solvents, spackling, and putty to ensure proper adhesion. Install and repair drywall panels, including measuring, cutting, hanging, taping, and finishing to achieve a smooth surface. Mix, stir, and thin paint according to the manufacturer's directions to achieve proper consistency for application. Apply protective and decorative paint to interior and exterior surfaces using brushes, rollers, spray guns, and other standard methods. Utilize measuring tapes, squares, and levels to ensure accurate dimensions and alignment when constructing and installing carpentry projects. Operate and maintain hand and power tools, such as saws, drills, routers, sanders, nailers, and fasteners, for carpentry, painting, and drywall projects. Select appropriate wood, composite, and wood substitute materials based on strengths, applications, and project requirements for carpentry tasks. Identify and select appropriate drywall materials, joint compounds, and tapes based on installation requirements and manufacturer's instructions. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications There are no specific length or level of experience requirements. The applicant's overall background of experience, education, and training must clearly demonstrate the ability to perform maintenance worker duties, such as carpentry, painting, and drywall installation and repair, without more than normal supervision. Applicants must pass the screen-out question and achieve an overall score of at least fifty percent (50%) or higher on the self-assessment. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
