GENERAL PURPOSE: Minimize machine down time due to mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic failure. Minimize machine down time through preventive maintenance and emergency repairs.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

Identifies and repairs potential machine problems before causing unscheduled down time.Performs emergency machine repairs in the most expeditious manner to minimize down time.Maintains parts inventory to ensure majority of parts are available for emergency machine repairs.Performs light fabrication which involves layout, machining, cutting and welding various metals.Performs light carpentry work as needed.Troubleshoots motors, pumps, compressors and any other systems in plant.Performs all preventative maintenance.Moves and constructs any equipment new or old as needed.Handles all general facility maintenance issues.Assists and trains machine operators on how to set up machines, proper lubrication, etc.Builds custom parts on demand.Performs other job duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have a high school diploma or G.E.D.One year certificate from a college or technical school and 2 years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.Must have the ability to meet and/or pass the minimum requirement on a mechanical test or have demonstrated mechanical aptitude through prior work experience.Must be certified in various types of welding.Must have acute troubleshooting skills.Must be willing to work overtime as needed; significant overtime may be required during busy periods. Ability to perform basic arithmetic including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.Ability to use basic algebra and geometry to calculate figures and amounts. Must have excellent communication and people skills. Must have a high sense of urgency to get projects accomplished quickly.Must be able to read blueprints.Must have ability to use hand tools, power tools, welders, torches, mill, lathe, press, grinders, mechanics, and machinist tools.Must be able to maintain good attendance.Must be reliable and dependable.Must be able to perform all essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
