Job Description Summary:
In this challenging position you will focus on maintaining mechanical, electrical and instrumentation systems at our air separation plant. The Maintenance /Electrical Technician will enhance existing and new skill sets leading to promotional opportunities. These skillsets include operations, project management, advanced computer skills, performance management and business management.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Maintenance of Mechanical, Electrical and instrumentation systems in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions, local work instructions and governing regulations.
Analyzers, instrumentation and related calibration files
Computerized maintenance program
Planning and executing maintenance during plant outages.
Contractor relationships
Demonstrated advanced troubleshooting skills.
Demonstrated commitment to safety.
Completes other related duties as assigned.
Maintain compliance with Airgas’ 12 Life Saving Rules and Safety Pledge
Require 100% compliance with all Airgas safety policy and procedures, and cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Practices) training and techniques to prevent lost time or serious injury to others.
Maintain high degree of safety by employing safe work habits.
Maintain neat, clean and orderly plant appearance.
Promote and develop safe work behaviors through the use of existing policies and procedures and an emphasis on safety behavior management techniques.
Assist with safety incident investigations, including near misses, using root cause analysis leading to recommended corrective actions to eliminate recurrences
Ensure applicable regulatory (OSHA, EPA, FDA, DHS) requirements are met and applicable training and recordkeeping is performed to meet departmental and location requirements
Learn, understand, and contribute to the operation and maintenance of all equipment within the air separation units, liquefiers, and hydrogen transfill processes. Examples of this equipment include compressors, expanders, pumps, valves, motors, programmable logic controllers, heat exchangers, cooling towers, etc.
Understand and be able to monitor the safe and reliable operation of pipeline, which supplies gaseous products to customers
Read and interprets technical drawings and manuals
Be highly knowledgeable and proficient of tools required to perform maintenance on the process equipment.
Identify potential problems from collected data & troubleshoot process and system problems to restore reliable and efficient operation.
Record plant readings and document plant maintenance
Take initiative to improve facility (i.e. operations, reliability, and efficiency) without direction
Conduct maintenance of mechanical, electrical and instrumentation systems in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions, local work instructions and governing regulations.
Perform and manage analyzers, instrumentation and related calibration files
Perform water treatment testing, monitoring, and optimization.
Understand and utilize computerized program for preventive maintenance
Assist in planning and executing maintenance work and projects during plant outages.
Develop contractor relationships
Demonstrate advanced troubleshooting skill
Completes other related duties as assigned
Perform quality assurance functions associated with products to maintain quality assurance
QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalent and 5 plus years or more industrial plant experience working with instrumentation/electrical equipment. A 2-year Associates degree in instrumentation or equivalent degree is preferred.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
Occasionally (1-33% of work time);
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
SAP Experience preferred.
COMMUNICATION and/or CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to write routine business reports and business correspondence in English.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees and/or customers.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals using the English language.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentages.

High school diploma
Industrial Plant Maintenance/Electrical experience
5 years of industrial plant / cryogenic plant experience preferred.
Understanding of control valve functions and systems used to control flows & pressures on industrial tanks
Experience troubleshooting equipment in a plant environment
Preferred Qualifications
Air Separation Plant or related industrial experience is a plus.
Refrigeration - A basic understanding of refrigeration systems is a plus
Air Separation - A basic understanding of air separation and associated technologies is a plus.
Cryogenic Experience.
Able to read and understand P&ID/Schematics
