Your Role:


As the Maintenance Technician 2 with MilliporeSigma, your role is to maintain and install equipment, facilities, and utility systems and to provide leadership, expertise, and training to other department members. This is a multi-skilled role responsible for completing work orders that cross over traditional fields. This position is based in St. Louis at 545 South Ewing Avenue.

 

 Responsibilities:

 

Cut, thread, and hammer pipe to specifications, using tools such as saws, cutting torches, and pipe threaders and bendersAssemble and secure pipes, tubes, fittings, and related equipment, according to specifications, by welding, brazing, cementing, soldering, and threading jointsAttach pipes to walls, structures, and fixtures, such as radiators or tanks, using brackets, clamps, tools, or welding equipmentInspect, examine, and test installed systems and pipelines, using pressure gauge, hydrostatic testing, observation, or other methodsMeasure and mark pipes for cutting and threadingLay out full scale drawings of pipe systems, supports, and related equipment, following blueprintsPlan pipe system layout, installation, or repair according to specificationsSelect pipe sizes and types and related materials, such as supports, hangers, and hydraulic cylinders, according to specificationsCut and bore holes in structures, such as bulkheads, decks, walls, and mains, prior to pipe installation, using hand and power toolsModify, clean, and maintain pipe systems, units, fittings, and related machines and equipment, following specifications and using hand and power toolsInstall automatic controls used to regulate pipe systemsTroubleshooting and repairs of automated fill linesTurn valves to shut off steam, water, or other gases or liquids from pipe sections, using valve keys or wrenchesRemove and replace worn componentsInspect work sites for obstructions and to ensure that holes will not cause structural weakness

 

Physical Attributes:

Walking, standing, reaching above the shouldersUse feet to operate equipment, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk, hear, use hands to operate tools and equipmentLifting and/or moving up to 50 poundsWear a hard hat, safety shoes, eye protection, hearing protection, a safety harness, protective clothing and gloves, respirator, and face shield

 

Who You Are

 

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED3+ years of Industrial or Commercial Maintenance experienceValid driver’s license

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Strong machining skills, including operation of lathes, end mills, drills presses, and knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)Electrical Engineering, Plumbing or Mechanical Engineering DegreeCommunicate using excellent verbal and written communication skillsExcellent interpersonal skillsGenerate and lead process improvementsGood organizational skills and knowledge of 5SLeadership skillsExperience making decisions and resolving problems (analyze alternatives, evaluate risks, etc.)Electrical, HVAC and/or Mechanical license(s)Understanding and use of building management systemsCompletion of a trade school (e.g. plumbing, welding, etc.) OR Associate’s Degree in Automation & Controls, Mechanical Design, or other engineering discipline
