Your Role:

As the Maintenance Technician 2 with MilliporeSigma, your role is to maintain and install equipment, facilities, and utility systems.  Also provide leadership, expertise, and training to other department members.  This position is a multi-skilled role responsible for completing work orders that cross over traditional fields.  The position will be for Late shift 8 hours M-F or 4 ten-hour shifts M-Thu.

Specific Responsibilities include:

 

Prepare pipes by cutting, threading, and shaping them to precise specifications using tools such saws, cutting torches, and pipe threadersAssemble and secure pipes, tubes, and fitting according to project requirements, utilizing various methods including welding, brazing, cementing, soldering, and threadingMount pipes to walls, structures, and fixtures like radiators or tanks, employing brackets, clamps, tools, or welding equipment for proper installationInspect, examine, and test installed systems and pipelines, using pressure gauge, hydrostatic testing, observation, or other methodsMeasure and mark pipes accurately for cutting and threading, adhering to project blueprints and specificationsSelect pipe sizes and types and related materials, such as supports, hangers, and hydraulic cylinders, according to specificationsPrepare specification holes in structures, such as bulkheads, decks, walls, and mains, prior to pipe installation using the necessary tools Modify, clean, and maintain pipe systems, units, fittings, and related machines and equipment, following specifications and using hand and power toolsInstall and calibrate automatic controls for regulating pipe systems efficientlyOperate valves to control the flow of steam, water, or other substances through pipe sections neededIdentify and replace worn components to ensure the longevity and functionality of pipe systemsConduct sit inspections to identify potential obstructions and ensure structural integrity before pipe installation

 

Physical Attributes:

 

Lifting and/or moving up to 50 poundsWalking, standing, reaching above the shoulders, stooping, crawling, and other physical demands in a manufacturing environment Wearing a hard hat, safety shoes, eye protection, hearing protection, a safety harness, protective clothing and gloves, respirator, and face shield

 

 Who You Are:

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

High School Diploma or GED1+ years of industrial Maintenance experience

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

 Journeyman’s card in Pipefitting, Boilermaking, or other maintenance/construction tradeStrong machining skills, including proficiency with lathes, end mills, & drills presses, and knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)Electrical, HVAC, and/or Mechanical license(s)Strong understanding of building management systemsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsExcellent interpersonal skillsGenerate and lead process improvementsGood organizational skills and knowledge of 5SLeadership skillsExperience making decisions and resolving problems (analyze alternatives, evaluate risks, etc.)
