The Opportunity:
Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Maintenance Superintendent is a key member of the Plant Management Team and as such, is responsible for providing overall leadership for the Maintenance Department, ensuring excellent safety performance combined with project planning and maintenance, as well as preventative maintenance programs.

 

Responsibilities:

Ensure the highest level of workplace safety Provide direction, training, and support for all maintenance personnel and foster a highly effective working relationship with all employees Assist in developing and achieving targets in safety, quality, cost, delivery, and employee engagement Ensure the Canfor Operating System (COS) is being followed with an emphasis on abnormality response Effectively liaise with Production departments to ensure the highest level of equipment availability Assist with the development and management of the annual budget and cost control program Ensure full compliance with environmental permits, applicable government regulations, and corporate policies Provide development for supervisory personnel Work with the senior management team to plan equipment and/or technological changes Develop, implement, and maintain effective preventative maintenance programs

 

Requirements:

Minimum 10 years of experience in an industrial sawmilling maintenance environment including several years of supervisory experience Proven ability in safety management, leadership, and development skills Excellent interpersonal, analytical, problem-solving solving and team-building skills Solid knowledge of performance management and continuous improvement processes Solid understanding and knowledge of optimization equipment and processes Strong business acumen Strong organizational skills with the desire to accept the challenge of working in continually changing internal/external business conditions An effective communicator, with strong verbal, written, and presentation skills Extensive experience with CMMS and the development and implementation of preventative maintenance programs Millwright or electrician trade or equivalent combination of experience and education
