WestRock's West Point paper mill is seeking an hourly Mechanical Maintenance Technician with the ability to provide primary millwright skills for the West Point Mill.

Good understanding of the types and application of equipment lubrication. Effective troubleshooting abilities. Ability to read and understand equipment manuals & drawings. Ability to properly document repairs and inspections. Computer skills adequate to look up bill of materials & stores parts, enter work results, and complete work orders. Good working knowledge of rigging equipment and techniques.Ability to measure, lay out, and fabricate repair parts.Compensation & Career Growth
We offer a clear, structured path for career advancement with competitive pay:
•Class 1 Helper: $33.05/hour. Promotion to Class C possible within 9–13 months based on performance.
•Class C: $35.11/hour. Eligible for Class B after 6 months.
•Class B: $37.10/hour. Promotion to Class A after 12 months.
•Class A: $39.71/hour. Final step to Class AAA ($42.80/hour) based on tenure and qualifications.
Total Progression Time: 2.25–2.5 years (27–31 months) from Class 1 Helper to Class A.
What you need to succeed:
For a Class 1 Helper:
Five years of relevant industrial experience at a journeyman mechanic’s level, or Two-year technical degree in mechanical technology, or four years’ relevant technical military experience Exceptional communication skills and the ability and willingness to work shift work.
For a Class A Journeyman:
Ten years of relevant industrial experience at a journeyman mechanics or electrician/instrumentation level - or Five years of relevant industrial or military experience and a two-year technical degree Exceptional communication skills and the ability and willingness to work shift work.
