Maintenance Mechanic I

Conemaugh Nason Medical Center is seeking a full-time Maintenance Mechanic I within our Maintenance Department. This position is responsible for performing a variety of maintenance duties to ensure that the building and equipment are operating safely and properly. This position is also responsible for security duties to provide a secure environment for patients, visitors, and hospital staff.

*Essential Functions:*
Performs hourly tours of boiler room and all hospital areas. Checks in with the switchboard operator and emergency room personnel.
Daily guard report and other security related forms are filled out by the end of the working shift. Performs security watch as per procedure.
Logs instrument, temperature, pressure, and other readings as required.
Work reports, SiteFM and other related forms are filled out as required. Completes SiteFM/work orders as assigned if time permitting.
Operates shop equipment according to manual instructions.
Completes minor plumbing jobs.
Performs operational checks on boilers. Sees that boiler and water column is blown down when necessary.
Removes snow and cuts grass as assigned according to procedure.
Greases, lubricates, and maintains proper oil levels in building equipment.
Cleans sewers, grease traps and drains when needed.
Cleans and stores equipment, tools, and materials before the end of the working shift.
Trash is collected at scheduled times. Handles isolation garbage as per procedure.
Assists with repairs in all departments as needed.
Checks for leaks throughout the hospital.
Replaces burnt out light bulbs and tubes.
Inspects, tests, and maintains records for all fire risers, sprinklers, extinguishers, fire doors, and other fire/safety-related equipment and systems. Participates and responds to fire alarms.
Reports accidents and injuries as outlined by the incident process.
Answers calls concerning misconduct. Requests assistance from police for any situation that cannot be handled.

*Minimum Education:*
High school diploma or equivalent required.
*Minimum Work Experience:*
2 years of Maintenance/Security experience preferred.
Experience in operating manual and power operated tools preferred.
*Required Skills:*
Must be able to read, write, and speak fluent English.
Must meet required criteria as described in the Nason Personnel Policy Manual.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions in the conduct of the job.
Must physically be able to lift and move heavy objects as outlined in the physical demands analysis.
Must be able to tolerate unpleasant sights and objectionable odors.
