About the role

The Factory Maintenance Manager is responsible for delivering the plant maintenance strategy and will work closely with the Engineering Manager at Refresco Milton Keynes to support its next period of growth. We have heavily invested in the upkeep of our equipment and will continue to invest throughout the coming years. Managing a team of 12+, you will set and measure engineers' KPIs, drive CIPs, manage stock levels, and improve downtime. We have two fairly new and well-maintained canning lines and continuously look to improve our processes. 

 

Key responsibilities of a Maintenance Manager

Leading continuous improvement/lean manufacturing techniques.Supporting engineers from a technical perspective, getting hands-on from time to time.Develop and manage the Engineering resource (direct and indirect) within the Factory, engaging in recruitment, performance management and succession planning.Working for the Operations Manager as part of their plant leadership team to drive performance and reduce operational costs.Ensure Health & Safety compliance of all assets within your designated Factory.Ownership of all Factory Engineering KPI’s, including: MTBF, MTTR, PPM, CCL and Work Order Completion, RCA Completion. Appropriate visual management to be employed.Identify and eliminate to root causes, breakdowns, and speed loss.Optimise frequency and duration of planned maintenance activities, ensuring appropriate service frequency is adhered to.Provide coaching in Continuous Improvement tools and techniques to members of the Operational teams. Develop and maintain Factory Engineering Skills Matrix.Manage workload and standards of delivery, identifying development opportunities and growing the technical and behavioral skill level of the team.Demonstrate a correlation between the planned asset care system effectiveness and line performance, showing value for money.Provide top level information and analysis on all operational areas affecting line performance.Assist support departments in the effective delivery of trials and new installations.  Draw in support resource when required to deliver results at Factory level.When necessary, assemble rapid improvement teams, working with Operational Teams to secure appropriate resources.Develop close working relationships with OEMs to deliver a balanced OEM scorecard.Where possible develop the population of rotational spares to minimize both planned and unplanned stoppages, in order to maximize machine up-time.Ensure compliance to all legislative and company requirements on all equipment, EG PUWERBe a point of reference for the provision and completion of method statements, risk assessments and safe systems of work on all manufacturing assets. Deputize for the Site Engineering Manager as required.Work with the Site Engineering Manager and Utilities Manager to ensure all statutory checks are completed on time and that Central Engineering policy is deployed at Factory level.

 

About you

We are looking for an experienced maintenance manager who is committed to developing high-performing teams and being an active role model.

You will need to have an electrical engineering background, ideally from an FMCG industry or automation background, and possess a minimum level 3 qualification in a manufacturing, engineering, or electrical discipline.

You must have experience working with PLCs / controls – ideally Allan Bradley or Siemens S7
